It is still very tight though as Jason in 3rd and Matt S in 10th (1179pts) are separated by just 107 points. Anyone who has a real strong finish could finish in the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Gaffer
How will it go?
Its now getting towards the end of the football season and so we caught up with The Gaffer to get his thoughts on who the winners will be come the summer.
English Premier League
Its a 3 horse race with United, Chelsea and Arsenal currently separated by just 2 points. The game at Old Trafford on 3rd April between United and Chelsea is going to be massive and could play a major part in who wins the league. Arsenal with the easier run in cannot be ruled out but for me as long as Rooney stays fit United should just about edge it. I think Liverpool will clinch 4th champs league place and Man City and Spurs will finish 5th and 6th to qualify for the Europa League. Portsmouth will be playing championship football next season and in my opinion I believe Bristol City fans will also have the joy of playing Burnley and Hull. Stoke to finish 11th.
FA Cup
Chelsea are the obvious choice here as they are the only Top 4 side left in the competition. Villa wont be easy in the semi final and neither will potential final opponents Spurs but Chelsea should be too strong for both and given that they have more depth in their squad their players are likely to be that little bit fresher than those of the smaller squads.
UEFA Champions League
United look set to go through having won in Milan and although Chelsea and Arsenal haves 2-1 defeats to turn around I do expect them both to join United in the last 8. Unfortunately I do feel United are a bit too dependant on one player (Not Berbatov but Rooney) to go all the way in Europe and against the top teams I can see Arsenal struggling to score goals if relying on an out of sorts Walcott or the goalscoring machine (Not) of Bendtner. Fabregas seems to be picking up a couple of injuries and Arshavin has not score many goals in the last few months. Chelsea will do well and of the English teams I feel they are the most likely to reach the final. However, I do not think they can win it as Cech being out injured is a big loss and although they have strength in depth they will be without Boswinga and Essien for the rest of the season and Ashley Cole has his problems as we know. We are left with the obvious of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Two terrific sides that play terrific football and Barcelona have a real chance of being the first side to win successive Champions League titles but I am going to go for Real Madrid who are playing some brilliant stuff at the moment and with Ronaldo, Kaka and Higuain I think they have the winning formula. They do still concede goals so is by no means a certainty but thats my choice.
Europa League
England have two representatives left with Fulham and Liverpool due to play in the last 16 against Juventus and Lille respectively. I expect Juventus to eliminate Fulham but Liverpool should progress. Liverpool do have an obvious chance of going all they way in this competition but do not underestimate the competition they have with Juventus, Benfica, A.Madrid, Hamburg, Wolfsburg, Valencia and Marseille all still in the competition. Watch out for Rubin Kazan too as they gave a fright to Inter and Barca in the Champions League. My tip is going to be Wolfsburg because in Dzeko they have one of the top forwards in Europe and he forms a good partnership with Grafite. Strong in the midfield and well organised at the back they will be hard to beat. They do have a tough draw as they play Valencia but I fancy the Germans to go all the way.
World Cup
The Big One. Can England do it .. YES. Do I think they will ..YES. I think there is a great chance we will come home with the trophy and here are my three main reasons why I think they can do it:
1) Right Manager Capello has us well organised, has the respect of the players and know how to win major trophies. Plus he keeps the wags away!
2) Experience Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand etc are all at the age now where they can handle the pressure and expectations of the nation.
3) Wayne Rooney This man is in the form of his life and his goals could make him a national hero this summer.
Spain are the main danger with Xavi and Iniesta in their side but I think they will miss Torres who I personally dont think will be fit to play in the World Cup (Because I am going to chainsaw his leg off). Brazil know how to win world cups blindfolded and will be a force to be reckoned with but I dont feel they are as good as us defensively so as long as you can have some possession they can be beat. Italy are too old, Holland will bottle it and Argentina have the wrong manager (although I do think Higuain could be a star at the world cup). Germany dont have enough goals in them and France are not good enough anymore. Portugal arent the side they were as key players are now passed it and the African Nations just arent on the same level.
Bristol Sunday Regional League Division One
Consistency has turned into complacency for leaders Real Bristol who have a 3pt lead at the top but also have two games in hand on Le Beq Reseves. This Sundays double header with Longwell Green is a huge, huge game for us and should we get the 6pts I cannot see us throwing it away. We do still go to Le Beq reserves in the league and that will be tricky but with the squad we have I think we are capable of seeing it out.
Do you agree with the gaffer? If so get down to William Hill ..
Man United (Prem) 6/4
Chelsea (FA Cup) EVS
R.Madrid (C/League) 11/2
Wolfsburg (Europa) 14/1
England (W.Cup) 5/1
If you put £5 on and the gaffer is right and the teams
above all win the competitions stated then you will collect £14,625!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The next update will be on Tuesday 9th March after the next round of Premier League/FA Cup Matches. For more details or if you would like to double check your team scores visit www.dreamteamfc.com.
The Gaffer
As the road to Wembley gets shorter and shorter for the remaining teams we caught up with The Gaffer to get his views on this weekends FA Cup ¼ Final Matches:
Pompey v Birmingham (12:30pm Saturday)
For all the financial problems and league worries that Pompey have had the FA Cup has proved to be a welcome distraction and the 2008 winners find themselves in a decent position to make the semi-finals. Jamie OHara has been their main man this season with some real eye-catching performances. Birmingham went on a great run on the league and to be safe by March and in a cup ¼ final is a terrific first season for them. Joe Hart has been crucial in getting them where they are and I feel he may need to be at his best if Birmingham are to progress:
Prediction: 2-1 Portsmouth Win.
Fulham v Spurs (5:20pm Saturday)
Two teams who are having terrific seasons with Spurs challenging for Champions League qualification and Fulham once again in the running for Europa League. Zamora will be hoping to keep up his recent good form against a former club whilst Crouch will be fired up for this after scoring twice in the England win on Wednesday. Fulham are very decent at home and do not concede many goals on home soil. Its gonna be a tight one.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Reading v Aston Villa (1:45pm Sunday)
The only team outside the Premiership still left in the competition and most people will have this down as banker away win but do remember that everyone had Liverpool down as a banker win when they played Reading earlier in the competition (TWICE!). Reading know this is an uphill task though and they know they are going to need to be at their very best. They started very poorly in the league but have clmbed several places now. Shane Long will be the man looking to do the damage. Martin ONeill has done wonders with Villa and despite losing Gareth Barry his side have once again performed superbly and are looking again to try and capture a Champions League spot. Richard Dunne has to go down as one of the signings of the season and along with James Collins and Carlos Cuellar he has helped Villa turn into a very sound team defensively.
Prediction: 2-0 Villa win.
Chelsea v Stoke (4pm Sunday)
The Big One. Nearly 30 years since Stoke last got to this stage of the competition and their reward for getting here is a trip to Stamford Bridge (Great!). Chelsea are an anbelivable side at home and this really does look like a tough task for The Potters. Chelsea have men to watch out for all over the pitch but one thing we know for sure is that if Stoke are to get any sort of result they will need to keep Didier Drogba quiet. Stoke will go into the game with confidence having suffered just one defeat in 2010 (last time out v Arsenal). With Cech out, Terrys head all over the place (and dip in form) and Ashley Cole also out injured Stoke will be confident of causing problems, especially at set-pieces. Shawcross (banned) is a massive loss and they will be hoping the terrific form of Ricardo Fuller combined with the likely return of Matty Etherington will be enough to take something from the game.
Prediction: 1-0 Stoke win (dont laugh!)
The Gaffer
Real bummer
Real's cup game with C.K.F.C is postponed due to unsafe pitch. Tie will be replayed on 7th March.

Weeksy leads the way with an impressive 218pts with Zamora and Drogba banging in the goals for him. A rare visit to the top end of the table for Vailesy who trails by 27pts in 2nd place. 2pts further back in 3rd is The Gaffer on 189pts and Palmer (170pts) and Bowler (160pts) complete the top 5. Just 90pts separate the top 9 so the last week should be interesting.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Birmingham City defender Roger Johnson. Top Scorers for each position are Tottenhams Mario Gomes (124 points), Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne (182 points), Midfielders Frank Lampard of Chelsea and Arsenals Cesc Fabregas are tied (both have 189 points) and Wayne Rooney is the top scoring forward (and player) with 291 points.

Palmers good month (so far) moves him up to 3rd in the overall standings with a total 1181pts and then we have Nina 4th on 1151pts and Jason is 5th on 1143pts. Fishponds Shock Real
Real suffered their first league defeat of the season as they went down 2-1 at Fishponds. With the gaffer still away, the only change from last weeks win over Lloyd was Matt Steele went upfront, and Bowler took Dicky's right mid place.
Not going into to much detail, this game is better off forgot as the Real team lacked everything you can think of. Bowler added to his total for the season and had a goal disallowed for offside.
Palmer said " This is one of the worst performances I have seen from a Real Bristol team since the club started back in 2004. The best thing we can do is to sweep this performanceunder the carpet and refresh our heads for the next league game"
Thankfully for Real, the gaffer is now back and some tough training will be dealt out.
Real continue unbeatun league run
Real showed fantastic bouncebackability without the gaffer present in their 2-0 victory over Lloyd Utd. Bowler's brace secured the win with Smithy missing a penalty in the second half. Match report up soon.

The Gaffer
Dream Team - Transfer Window 2
With Transfer Window 2 about to go through I thought we should take a look at some of the transfers managers made during the 1st window. Did The Gaffer profit with his moves? Did Herberts cost him dearly? We take a close look in this feature ..
Awards
Best Transfer Made: Nina
It looked an obvious one to make but still was good business by Nina who withdrew James Beattie and replaced him with Darren Bent. Since the window James Beattie has not scored a single point but Darren Bent has scored 56pts helping Nina climb the table.
Other good transfers included Bolwer swapping things round to remove Carrick for Fabregas, Vailesy getting Vermaelen in for Boswinga and Palmer replacing Robinho with Drogba.
Worst Transfer Made: Dave Herbert
There can only be one winner and what shocking transfer it has turned out to be. Dave replaced Carlos Tevez with Louis Saha and that transfer has cost Dave dearly. Tevez has scored 119pts since being removed while his replacement Saha has managed 44pts. Had Dave not made this change he would be 75pts better off!!!!!
Other shockers include Browner replacing Hart with Sorenson, Shane replacing low scorer McCarthy (earned him 18pts) with Beattie who has scored 0pts for him since coming in and Nina replacing (injured at the time) Onouha with Sam Ricketts (Scored -5 since coming in).
Shrewdest Move: Dicky
During the first transfer window Dick made a change to his team that came as a bit of a surprise. Leighton Baines had earned his team 52pts when we reached the window making him Dicks highest scoring defender and was one of the best scoring defenders up until that point. But this didnt stop Dick from replacing him with Richard Dunne.
Yes, Dunne was one of the top scoring players to bring in but there was no guarantee Dunne would keep on doing so well and to remove a player (Baines) who was contributing so much was brave but since then Baines pts have slowed gaining an additional 27pts since Window 1 whilst Dunne has continued to impress scoring a monstrous 88pts since Window 1. This transfer means Dick is 61pts better off. Shrewd.
Palmer also made quite a shrewd move by removing A.Ferdinand and Woodgate and replacing with Gallas and James Collins.
Conclusion
Choose wisely guys as it can make all the difference J

3) Your Score For January
We are past halfway stage of the month and Claires team is still top of the table with 106pts on the board. Browner had moved from 4th to 2nd but has now slipped back to 4th (90pts) as Jason moves up 2 places to take 2nd with 96pts. Dave Herberts team has had a great week climbing 9 places as he goes from 12th to 3rd with 92pts. Herbert completes the Top 5 with 85pts and The Gaffer, with Drogba away, is just outside the Top 5 with just 1pt less than Herbert. Only 47pts separate the top 12 in the league though so it could all change so quickly.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Birmingham City defender Roger Johnson. Top Scorers for each position are Tottenhams Mario Gomes (96 points), Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne (156 points), Midfielder Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal and Chelseas Frank Lampard have159pts and Didier Drogba is the top scoring forward (and player) with 197 points.

The Week Ahead
Monday
Big clash in the Championship as Newcastle take on West Brom at St. James Park. It is the first of two matches in 6 days between these 2 sides as West Brom will host Newcastle on Saturday in the FA Cup. That one will be tough to call but with home advantage I fancy Newcastle to win this one 2-0.
Africa Cup Of Nations matches continue and tonight will see Group A decided. Both games kick off at 4pm. Angola v Algeria is very tough to call with both sides having won their last game they will be confident. I think Algeria may just snatch it 2-1. Mali v Malawi is the other game and although it wont be easy I think Mali may take this 3-2.
Tuesday
City have their FA Cup 3rd round replay away to Cardiff. A home tie against Leicester awaits the winner and unfortunately for Jordan & Co I think the winner will be Cardiff (2-0). The Gills also have Cup action and I fancy them to win 2-1 at Accrington Stanley. Forest Green are finally hoping to get their game played at Notts County where I expect the league side to win 3-0.
Carling Cup Semi Final 1st Leg between Man City and Man U will be Live on Sky and this will be tough for United so a 1-1 draw will be a happy draw for the visitors.
In League One The Gas go to Huddersfield where I expect them to get beat (3-1) and finally, in the Northern Final 1st Leg of the Johnstones Paint Trophy I can see Leeds winning 3-1 against Carlisle at Elland Rd.
Burkina Faso v Ghana is the sole Africa Cup Of Nations match on this day where only a win will do if Ghana are to progress to the next round otherwise it is Burkina Faso who will progress with Ivory Coast from Group B. I fancy Ghana though to win this 2-0.
Wednesday
Carling Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg between Villa and Blackburn. Villa take that useful 1-0 lead to Villa park and I think that will be extended with a 2-0 win on the night.
Arsenal host Bolton in the Premier League as the sides face each other for the 2nd time in 4 days. Unfortunately for Coyle and his troops I think another defeat looks likely (3-0). A massive game at Anfield as Liverpool take on Spurs. The loser of this could be out of the race for 4th spot and this could finally be the end for Rafa Benitez as I fancy Spurs to win 2-1 against injury plagued Liverpool.
Southern Final 1st Leg of the Johnstones Paint Trophy and MK Dons take on Southampton. This looks like a 1-1 draw to me.
Group C Action in The Africa Cup Of Nations and at 4pm Egypt play Benin and Nigeria take on Mozambique. A Egypt are already qualified they rest a few and draw 1-1 with Benin but I expect Nigeria to win and progress with them with a 2-0 win over Mozambique.
Thursday
Group D Action in The Africa Cup Of Nations and at 4pm Cameroon take on Tunisia and Gabon play Zambia. I can see 2-0 victories for Cameroon and Zambia which will see them both progress to the next round.
Friday
No Action.
Saturday
FA Cup 4th Round Action and the Live game at 12:45 will see Chelsea take on Preston at Deepdale. On Saturday Chelsea hit Sunderland for 7 while Preston were busy conceding 4 goals to Bristol City so I dont give them too much of a chance (even though Preston are a lot better at home) and can see Chelsea winning this 3-0.
At 3pm The Gills take on Fulham (this is if they have beaten Acc. Stanley by then). With home advantage they could give Fulham a run for their money and cause a replay with a 1-1 draw. If City have somehow got past Cardiff I think they will beat Leicester 1-0 but I really dont think City will be playing in the FA Cup come Saturday. Premiership Action and one game as United take on Hull. Hull have absolutely no chance here and will get beat 4-0. In League One The Gas host Hartlepool and this is a good opportunity for Rovers who could win 2-1.
At 5:15pm the live game will see Leeds trying to pull off another shock in The FA Cup as the reward for winning at Old Trafford is a game at White Hart Lane against Spurs. I think Leeds could be given a reality check here and get beat 4-0.
Sunday
Real Bristol could at last get their game on and are at home to Downend in the Quarter-Final of The GFA Senior Cup. This will be very tough but I fancy a 3-1 home win.
Stoke host Arsenal in a 1:30pm kick off in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Can the Potters repeat the 2-1 success of last season at The Brit? Going to be very difficult but I will back my lads to get a 1-0 win (praying lol). Scunthorpe take on Man City at 4pm and Mancinis side should have no problems and win 3-1.
Top Tip: I am calling this one the Tuesday Trouble as I can see defeats for the travelling sides at Cardiff, Villa, Huddersfield and Leeds. This 4-timer should pay odds of around 4/1 I reckon so get on!

Jason is 4th with 42 pts and then with 39pts Herbs is 5th. Only 48pts separate the entire league though so if one player gets a hat-trick for you this weekend you could go from one end of the table to the other.

The Gaffer
New signing still pending
Real's latest capture is still not complete as the league meeting had to be postponed and is re scheduled for 13 January.
Real should tie up the signing once the transfer is complete from the league.
The Week Ahead
Monday
Man City take on Blackburn at Eastlands and I cannot see too many problems for Mancinis side. Could be yet another clean sheet and I will go for a 2-0 home victory.
Africa Cup Of Nations and Group A fixtures will see Malawi face Algeria at 13:45. Algeria should prove too strong and win 2-0. I fancy Ivory Coast to cruise to a 3-0 win at 4pm over Burkina Faso. The best clash would have been at 6:30 but Ghana v Togo is postponed due to the infamous shooting earlier this week!
Tuesday
City have their FA Cup 3rd round fixture against Cardiff at Ashton Gate and I am backing Bristol City to win 1-0. The Gills also have Cup action and I fancy them to win 2-1 at Accrington Stanley.
Egypt v Nigeria should be decent to watch at 4pm when both sides take to the field for their opening fixture in The Africa Cup Of Nations. I actually fancy Egypt 2-1. The 6:30pm kick off is the other fixture in Group C and it will see Mozambique play Benin. Dont know a great deal about these two but I know Benin have had a few good wins over some or the bigger teams in the last couple of years so will go for a 2-0 Benin win.
Wednesday
Can Liverpool make it 2nd time lucky when facing Reading in The FA Cup 3rd round replay. Reading gave a terrific account of themselves at The Madjeski but surely at Anfield Rafas Liverpool side will not have too many problems and should cruise to a 3-0 win. I fancy Newcastle to win by the same score line in their FA Cup Replay at home to Plymouth.
Group D Action in The Africa Cup Of Nations and Cameroon (4pm) look good to win 3-1 against Gabon. Tunisia (6.30pm) should beat Zambia (2-0).
Thursday
Re-scheduled Carling Cup Action as Blackburn take on Aston Villa in the 1st Leg at Ewood Park. I fancy the home side to win this one 1-0.
Back to Group A for the 2nd round of games and Angola v Malawi is not a game I know too much about but I am sure it will be interesting to watch and I will go for a 1-1 draw. The other game looks more appealing at 4pm and I think Mali could give Algeria a run for their money but come out on the receiving end of a 2-1 score line.
Friday
More Africa Cup Of Nations action with A Group B match. At 6:30pm a cracker between Ivory Coast and Ghana. Whilst Ivory Coast have a few more regular names to most The Ghanaians are a well organised side and I can see an entertaining 2-2 draw between these two sides. The other game would have been Burkina Faso against Togo but this is postponed due to the infamous shooting earlier this week!
Saturday
12:45 Live on Sky Sports 1 will see an interesting game between Stoke City and Liverpool. I think IF Stoke can keep a clean sheet for the opening 30mins then they can pull of an upset and win 2-1 (I hope). At 3pm I will predict the following scores: Chelsea 2 v 0 Sunderland, United 3 v 0 Burnley, City 1 v 1 Preston, Leyton Orient 1 v 1 Gas, Swindon 2 v 0 Gills. The Live game at 5:30 is covered by ESPN and will see the first major test for Mancini as his Man City team got to Goodison to play Everton. I think Everton could cause a lot of problems and I fancy them to get at least a draw (2-2).
Africa Cup Of Nations Group C: 4.00pm - Nigeria 1 v 1 Benin. 6.30pm - Egypt 3 v 0 Mozambique.
Sunday
Real Bristol could at last get their game on and are at home to Downend in the Quarter-Final of The GFA Senior Cup. This will be very tough but I fancy a 3-1 home win.
Three Prem fixtures and I like the look of one home, one draw and one away with Villa home to West Ham (2-1), Blackburn home to Fulham (0-0) and Bolton home to Arsenal (1-2).
Africa Cup Of Nations Group D: 4.00pm - Gabon 1 v 1 Tunisia. 6.30pm Cameroon 3 v 0 Zambia.
Top Tip: Couple of recommendations. The Prem treble Sunday 1 Home, 1 Draw, 1 Away looks good (Villa to bt West Ham, Blackburn draw with Fulham and Arsenal win at Bolton). Should be around 7/1!!!!!
My TOP,TOP Tip though has to be Swindon to bt The Gills (Sorry Herbs). Swindon have lost just 1 of 11 home games in the league whilst The Gills are one of only 3 teams in the Football League who have not won an away game (Played 12, Drew 2, Lost 10!) and only 3 teams have conceded more goals than them away from home. Lump on Swindon!!!!!
Have to tip Africa Cup Of Nations: Ghana at around 11/2 are good value. Ivory Coast worthy 2/1 favourites but Ghana at their price is a better bet!!!
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL AFRICA CUP OF
NATION GAMES ARE LIVE ON EUROSPORT!!!!!

It is early days but Claires team looks like may be coming back into form with an impressive 54pts in the opening week. Jason is second on 40pts and The Gaffer shares 3rd spot with Browner on 36pts. A rarity as we see Jordan in the top 5. He shares 5th spot with Herbs as they both have 32pts. A disappointing week for Palmer and Dicky who occupy the bottom 2 spots. The Week Ahead
Monday
Bank Holiday means a full fixture list with many of the sides we follow in action.
Spurs v West Ham is Live on Sky Sports and a 12:45pm kick off. West Ham have turned a corner but I still have to fancy Spurs with home advantage (2-0). At 3pm Chelsea play Fulham whilst an in-form Birmingham travel to play Stoke at The Brit. I think Chelsea and Stoke could pick up 2-1 home wins. There is more Prem Action Live on Sky as Wolves take on Man City (7:45 kick off). Looks like an ideal opportunity for Mancini to pick up another win and another 2-0 victory sounds about right to me.
Elsewhere at 3pm City host Watford in the Championship. City have lost only 1/11 league matches at Aston Gate this season and I fancy them to beat Watford. Watford on their day are as good as any team in the league but are so inconsistent. Going for a 2-1 home win. League 1 may see defeats for Gillingham (2-1 away to Exeter) and Bristol Rovers (3-0 away to Millwall).
Tuesday
Villa take on Liverpool (7:45 Sky Sports 1) in what may prove to be a huge game in the battle for 4th place. I think both teams will be disappointed but have to settle for a 1-1 draw. The other fixture (8pm kick off) is just as important at the other end of the table as Hull take a trip to The Reebok to take on Bolton. Bolton may prove too strong at home and so I am tipping them to win 2-0.
Wednesday
Live action from Fratton Park (7:45 Sky Sports 1) where Arsenal are the visitors to take on Avram Grants Pompey side. Not an easy place to go on a cold December night and so I fancy Pompey to pick up a point with a 1-1 draw. An 8pm kick off at Old Trafford where the home side should have no problems picking up 3 points against Wigan (3-0).

Full list of fixtures as The F.A Cup truly begins. City take on Cardiff (12:45 kick off Live on www.TheFA.Com). I fancy City to get a 1-0 win. Liverpool surely wont be defeated away to Reading. I fancy a 2-0 away win but if they do lose this Benitez is surely gone. Stoke should thump York City (4-0) and Spurs should breeze past Peterborough (5-1).
No games for The Gills or The Gas as they are out the cup and not allocated a league fixture.
Sunday
Real Bristol should at last get their game on and are at home to Downend in the Quarter-Final of The GFA Senior Cup. This will be very tough but I fancy a 3-1 home win.
In the FA Cup 3rd Round Chelsea should cruise past Watford (3-0) and remember to keep an eye out for local side Forest Green Rovers who have an away tie against Svens Notts County. I would love to see a shock but I dont expect one and I am predicting a 3-0 home win. Arsenal have a very tricky game at West Ham and I actually believe the Hammers could pull of a 2-1 victory here to see the first of the Top 4 teams eliminated from the competition.
Top Tip: Chelsea, Spurs, Stoke, Everton, Fulham and Liverpool to win in FA Cup. 6 team accumulator at odds of probably around 2/1 or 5/2 looks Easy Money!
Real and Downend frozen out
The long awaited GFA quarter final tie against Real and Downend will now go ahead on 3rd Jan.
The Week Ahead
Today
Wigan take on Bolton at the DW Stadium. Bolton have improved as of late but Wigan are decent at home. I fancy a 2-1 win for the home side. The only other game will see Bournemouth take on Notts County in League Two. I will go 1-1 here.

Full list of fixtures for Boxing Day. The Gills could record another home win (1-0) home to Brentford when they kick off at 12 30. The 12:45 Live Game will see in-form Birmingham take on an out of sorts Chelsea side. Despite their current form I fancy Chelsea to win 2-0. City kick off at 1pm away to QPR and I cant see City getting anything here so will say 1-0 to the hosts.
At 3pm all eyes will be on Mancini as he takes charge of his first game at home to Stoke. Jason and The Gaffer travel to Eastlands in the hope of an upset. Stoke played well at Villa and Man City look poor at the back so I am gonna back my boys to grab a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Elsewhere The Gas should win (3-1) against Walsall at The Mem. Liverpool take on Wolves in the live game at 5:30 and you cant go for anything over than a home win. It should be a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Sunday
If Real Bristol are asked to play this week it will be at home to Downend in the Quarter-Final of The GFA Senior Cup. This will be very tough but I fancy a 3-1 home win.
Top Tip: QPR to bt City, Chelsea to bt Brum and The Gas to bt Walsall. A Xmas treble. Also fancy Tuncay to score anytime at The City Of Manc Stadium!

With thanks to Crouch and Dunne, Palmer takes over at the top with 195pts scored in December so far. Nina remains 2nd and still trails by just 10. Dicky drops to 3rd with 166. The Gaffer is creeping closer to the money and is tied for 4th with Weeksy on 154. Shane Douglas continues to drop and has now gone from 10th to 15th.
The Gaffer leads the way overall with 894 pts. Herbs regains 2nd with 783pts and Dick is in a share of 3rd with Nina on 775pts. The Gaffer
The Week Ahead
Today
Of the action today focus is on the 4 prem games taking place. United should bounce back to winning ways with a 3-0 home victory against Wolves. Elsewhere it may finish Brum 0 v 0 Blackburn, Bolton 3 v 1 West Ham and Sunderland 1 v 1 Villa.
Wednesday
More Prem action with A mouth-watering tie at White Hart Lane the pick of them (Live on Sky). I do expect goals and think that Spurs may pinch this one 3-2. Elsewhere Arsenal should win at Burnley (2-0), Chelsea should wallop Pompey (4-0) and Liverpool must bounce back with a win at home to Wigan. I think they will win 3-1. There is also a must win game for Fulham in Basel. Only a win will do if they are to progress to the next round and although it wont be easy I think they are in good form and can come away with a 1-0 win.
Thursday
Everton are already through so will rest players at home to BATE. I still think they may win (2-1).
Friday
League Two action with Grimsby facing Morecambe and Hereford taking on Lincoln. I fancy 2-1 victories for Morecambe and Hereford.
Saturday
Full list of fixtures. The 12:45 Live game will see Pompey take on Liverpool. This will be tough for Liverpool and I fancy Portsmouth to snatch a point with a 1-1 draw. At 3pm we will see United travel to Fulham and Man City host Sunderland. Difficult game for United but with players slowly returning from injuries I think they may win this game 2-1. Man City should win 3-1. Stoke have a very difficult game away to Villa but I have to back my boys to get a point (1-1). City should beat a poor Reading side (3-1), The Gas could get a 1-1 draw at Tranmere and The Gills have a good chance of picking up 3pts with a 2-1 home win against Stockport.
Sunday
Real Bristol are at home to Downend in the Quarter-Final of The GFA Senior Cup. This will be very tough but I fancy a 3-1 home win.
Prem action as Wolves play Burnley (1:30k.o). Wolves have been decent enough at home and I fancy them 2-0. 3pm k.o for Everton as they host Brum and another 2-0 home win looks about right. The Live 4pm k.o will see Chelsea at West Ham. West Ham are just too poor at the moment so a 3-0 Chelsea win could be on the cards.
Cracking championship game as Newcastle face Boro in a local derby which kicks off at 1pm. I actually fancy Boro to get a 1-1 draw.
Top Tip: Saturday Treble: Drogba is on fire at the moment. Back him to score anytime against Pompey on Wednesday and anytime against West Ham on Sunday. This should pay around 3/1 and I think this is great value for a striker to score against two teams who are in the relegation zone!
Dream team update
Here are the scores after the games played so far in December. There are 3 scores present for everyone: The list is in the order of your score for December. The table shows:
1) Your Previous Total (Prior To December Comp)
2) Your Total Score As Of 10:00am, Tuesday 15th December.

Dicky takes over at the top with a very healthy 148 points. Nina has climbed from 11th to 2nd and with 138 points trails by just 10. With Weeksy just 6pts further back on 132 and Magic on 125 in 4th it is still all to play for. Palmer on 113 completes the Top 5. Keep an eye out too for The Gaffer who climbed from 13th to 6th.
The Gaffer leads the way overall with 844 points. Dicky is now 2nd on 757pts. Herbert 3nd on 732pts and Nina has climbed from 7th to 4rd with a total of 728pts. Then we have Magic 5th on 718 and Dave 6th (707pts).
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Wolves Jody Craddock. Top Scorers for each position are Man City Goalkeeper Shay Given (74 points), Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen (1118 points), Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas (116 points) and Didier Drogba is the top scoring forward (and player) with 190 points.

Hot streak continues as Real go 6 points clear
Read more under reports.
Scott responds to press reports
It has been reported in some of the local and national newspapers that there has been some turmoil at the club recently with one player walking away from Sundays training session and then a rift breaking out at last nights session in Southmead. The news broke just days after turmoil was reported at both Stoke City and QPR.
The Gaffer of Real Bristol has released the following statement:
The events that have happened at QPR and Stoke are unfortunate but in football these things happen. I am not going to go into details about what may and may not have happened this week as what happens within the club stays within the club. All I will say is that there has been an incident and it has been dealt with internally by the football club. As always the press have blown everything out of proportion and there is no story here. I have had a chat with certain people and it ends there. The fans can be assured that team spirit remains high. This club has a huge game on Sunday at BAWA and that is what we remained focus on.
Real Bristol go into the game at BAWA with a 3point lead at the top of the table over their rivals. With a game in hand this is potentially a 6 point lead but a win for the hosts will really open things up at the top of the table and Real Bristol Manager Scott Budding is under no illusions in terms of the task that lies ahead.
This week is a massive game for this club. A lot of the talk in recent weeks has been about the delayed GFA Cup Quarter Final with Downend and so this game has really gone quite unnoticed but the truth is that they are both huge games for us. In fact, if we could only win one of these fixtures the BAWA game is the one I would chose to win. The cup runs are great for everyone at the club but the league is our bread and butter and to think that come Sunday night we could be 6 points clear with a game in hand is remarkable.
We have had a few weeks off at a time when we were really on a roll but I know the lads will still be ready and if there is one team we will always be up for it is BAWA. We know what a good side they are and they have some good individuals but we are also aware of our own ability and we will go into the game with a positive attitude and believing we can come away with the 3 points. What we mustnt do is think that because we have won all our games so far that it automatically gives us the right to win the next one. We cannot and will not take them for granted.
Scott hopes to have a full squad to choose from with just two doubts with Vice-Captain Jason Steele missing training yesterday due to flu and Matthew Collier-Brown missing training once again adding to the speculation that he is set for a transfer in the January window. Scott had this to say:
Jason didnt train with the rest of the lads yesterday as he is suffering with the flu. He still has a chance of being fit for Sunday and we hope he will be available. Like the rest of the team he has been in terrific form. It is true that MCB didnt train again yesterday but it is believed that he is still alive and he should be there on Sunday. We have not received any offers for MCB but as far as the club is concerned we are not looking to sell MCB or any other player.
Dream Team Update
Here are the scores after the games played so far in December. There are 3 scores present for everyone: The list is in the order of your score for December. The table shows:
1) Your Previous Total (Prior To December Comp)
2) Your Total Score As Of 9:00pm, Monday 7th December.
3) Your Score For December
The Gaffer finds himself in unfamiliar territory with just 3 people below him in the monthly standings. Matt Steele leads the way with an impressive 80 points but Shane is hot on his heels with 74 points and Dick is just 6 points further back in 3rd place with 68 points. With just 40 points separating 1st to 14th it can and probably will change dramatically as the month unfolds.
The Gaffer leads the way overall with 782 points. Herbs extends the gap from 2nd to 3rd place. Herbs now has 697points with Dick 3rd on 677. Magic climbs into 4th (673) with Claire completing the Top 5 (671). Dave Herbert drops out of The Top 5 for the first time since October 15th. A good start to December means Vailesy has relegated Jordan to last place (504 to 502 points respectively).
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Wolves Jody Craddock. Top Scorers for each position are Man City Goalkeeper Shay Given (76 points), Chelseas John Terry (109 points), Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas (114 points) and Didier Drogba is the top scoring forward (and player) with 169 points.

1) Your Previous Total (Prior To Nov Comp)
2) Your Score For November
3) Your Total Score As Of 2:00pm, Tuesday 1st December.
The Gaffer wins again with 185pts, 13 clear of Palmer in second place. Bowler with 160pts pips Matt Steele by 2 pts to secure 3rd spot. Congrats to the three winners who pick up £30, £20 and £10 respectively.
The Gaffer leads the way overall with 740 points. Herbs climbs from 5th to 2nd on 638 points. Claire (627), Dave (614) and Dick (609) complete the top 5 spaces. This means the lead at the top is extended from 96 points to a 102 point lead for The Gaffer but there is a very, very long way to go!!!!

The Gaffer
The Week Ahead
Due to my sickness from work The Week Ahead had a week off but now its back
Today
Championship action with Watford playing QPR. Watford have produced the goods at home this season and a 2-0 home win looks the bet.
Tuesday
Champions League Action returns and I fancy United to get the 1 point they need to win Group B with a 1-1 draw. Chelsea, although they have nothing to play for, should cruise to a 4-0 home win against Apoel Nicosia.
In the FA Cup I expect Leeds to win 2-0 at Elland round against Kettering to secure a third round game at Old Trafford.
Bristol City are struggling to score goals right now and face a tough Championship Fixture away to Leicester and a 2-1 win for The Foxes looks the bet here.
In League One The Gas travel to Charlton and will lose 2-0. The Gills could bounce back from their defeat at The Mem by beating Yeovil at home 3-1.
Wednesday
Liverpool will grace us with their presence for the last time in this seasons competition (lol). They face Fiorentina at home. With nothing at stake for the hosts a 1-1 draw looks good.Arsenal will be happy with a draw in Olympiakos and another 1-1 draw looks likely. Rangers will surely round off a miserable European campaign by getting thrashed in Sevilla (3-0).
Coventry v Newcastle play in the Championship and with these teams at opposite ends of the table I will predict a 2-1 away win for The Toon.
Thursday
No Action
Friday
Brighton v Colchester in League One is the only action and I will predict a 1-0 win for the home side.
Saturday
Full list of fixtures. Sky Sports has Stoke City v Wigan (12:45pm k.o) and with Stokes home form and Wigans away form a 2-0 win for The Potters looks good.
At 3pm Chelsea should beat Everton at The Bridge (2-0). Bristol City will get beat at Doncaster (2-1) in The Championship but The Gas may have more luck in League One when they host Swindon (2-1 Rovers). The Gills will get beat 2-0 at Huddersfield.
At 5:45pm Live Action comes from Old Trafford with United hosting Villa. This will not be easy but I do fancy United to sneak it 2-1.
Sunday
Real Bristol are away to BAWA. BAWA know they need to win to stay in contention but they will be up against it when the leaders visit them and Real look good value for a 4-1 victory.
Liverpool face Arsenal at 4pm Live On Sky. Should be a classic. Think this could end up 2-2. The earlier game (1:15 k.o) will see Boro host Cardiff and with Kitson and Lita hitting form for Boro they could win this one 3-1.
X-Factor final: Would like Olly to win but Joe WILL win.
Top Tip: Saturday Treble: Huddersfield To Bt Gills, Stoke To Bt Wigan and Chelsea to Bt Everton.
Real Bristol Talk To Bath Star (Not Jordan Lol)
Real Bristol had the chance to catch up with former Bristol Rovers Captain and current Bath City midfield star Lewis Hogg ahead of Saturdays FA Cup 2nd Round home tie against Forest Green Rovers. Real Bristols very own Aaron Vailes posed the questions for an exclusive interview for www.real-bristolfc.co.uk.
AV: Lewis. A big game against tough opponents in this 2nd round FA Cup tie. How do you feel it will go?
LH: I think that Bath City really has what it takes to make it to the third round. It is great that a team like Bath City are being recognised nationally because of this great run we are having. The FA Cup really is magical and this is the reason why.
It is a strange tie in the sense that the southwest is hardly renowned for a surplus of top end teams. However a pattern is starting to emerge when we look at recent FA Cup runs. Last year Hallen FC almost made it
to the first round proper, losing narrowly to fellow minnows Canvey Island. This year we had Paulton Rovers who beyond all expectations managed to find there way to the 1st round proper where they were awarded
with a dream tie against high flying Norwich, who clearly outclassed them at the Athletic Field 7-0, and this year we also have representatives Bath City and Forest Green Rovers battling it out against each other for a
place in the 3rd round draw.
Based on current form neither side seem to be running away in the particular leagues. Forest Green will be favourites on the day being a league higher but they have scored just 17 goals and conceded 40 in only 20 games. Conceding an average of 2 goals per game is not a great record. Bath City however are sitting mid-table in the Blue Square Southern League.
AV: Based on current form and looking at the tables what you think the result will be Lewis?
LH: I think that we have what it takes to win 2-1 against Forest Green, on our day we are capable of beating quite a lot of teams. It is a real good bunch of lads here and there is a lot of belief within the team. It will be a great atmosphere on the day I imagine there will be about 2500 people attending the game. The 3rd round is all we want though. It is great to know we are this close to rubbing shoulders with some of the worlds greatest players, a chance that doesnt come up often at this level. We have to concentrate and get the job done. We have worked to hard to not let it slip now.
Real would like to thank Lewis for taking the time to answer some of our questions and who knows, if Bath City do win we might be hearing from him again in the near future.
Good luck to Lewis and to Bath City for Saturday.
The Week Ahead
After the Stag do The Week Ahead had a week off but we are back and hopefully a successful Top Tip coming your way .
Today
Championship action Live on Sky Sports 1 with Preston hosting Newcastle. This could be a cracker as Newcastle are flying high but Preston are superb at home. Michael Tonge is set to make his debut following his loan move from Stoke and I fancy him to help Preston to a 2-1 victory!
Tuesday
Champions League Action returns and all eyes will be on Liverpool and Rafa Benitez. They have to win in Debrecen and hope Lyon do them a favour and get something at Fiorentina. I think Liverpool will win 2-0 but fancy Fiorentina to beat Lyon 2-1 which will eliminate Liverpool from the Champions League. What a shame! Arsenal are virtually already through and will beat Liege at The Emirates 3-1. The other standout tie is Barcelona v Inter. Barca may have one eye on the big league game with Madrid but they really need the win here as 1 point separates all 4 teams in Group F. I think this one will finish 2-1 Barca.
In League One The Gas travel to Charlton and will lose 2-0. The Gills could bounce back from their defeat at The Mem by beating Yeovil at home 3-1.
Wednesday
United are though but should have no problems at Old Trafford against Besiktas (2-0 home win). Chelsea face a tricky game in Porto. They have already qualified so will probably be happy enough with the 1-1 draw I am predicting. Premier League Action with Fulham hosting Blackburn (0-0) and Hull facing Everton (1-2).
Thursday
No Action
Friday
No Action
Saturday
Full list of fixtures. At 3pm United travel to Pompey. United should win (2-0). Stoke face Blackburn at Ewood Park (0-0), City face Sheff Utd (1-0) and in The 2nd Round of The FA Cup Gillingham should progress with a home victory over Burton Albion (2-1). Also in Round Two we have Bath City hosting Forest Green Rovers. It is terrific than one of these sides will be in the draw for round 3 when the hug clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Stoke come into the tournament. I fancy Forest Green to pinch this one (2-1).
5:30pm kick off on Sky will see goals as Spurs travel to Villa. I can see an entertaining 2-2 draw here.
Sunday
Real Bristol are away to Breakaways. Breakaways seem to be very up and down with some good results and some bad ones. I dont expect too many issues for the League Leaders though and predict a 6-0 victory.
3 games and 3 local derbies in The Prem. Its a 12 noon kick off at Molineaux as Wolves face Brum. I fancy Wolves to take the 3 points with a hard fought 1-0 victory. Everton face Liverpool (1:30ko) at Goodison and after the midweek exit from the Champions League a defeat here would surely seal Rafas fate. I dont think they will lose though and I actually think they may win 1-0. The 4pm kick off will see Arsenal face Chelsea at The Emirates. The title race could be back on with a 2-1 win for The Gunners.
Barcelona play Real Madrid (6pm kick off) on Sky and again there has to be goals. Could be 2-2 again!
Top Tip: Over 2.5 goals in the following 2 games: Villa v Spurs, Barca v Real Madrid and Under 2.5 goals in the Blackburn v Stoke game. Looks a great treble!

1) Your Previous Total (Prior To Nov Comp)
2) Your Score For November So Far
3) Your Total Score As Of 2:00pm, Monday 23rd November.
The Gaffer leads the way with 118pts, largely due to Jermaine Defoe bagging 5 goals. Palmer climbs to 2nd (105pts) after Ireland, Valencia and Bent all scored well this weekend. Bowler (97pts), Dick (96pts) and Matt Steele (87pts) complete the top5 positions. Browner is the highest climber moving from bottom to 6th in the space of a week.
The Gaffer leads the way overall with 673 points. Dave (577), Claire (570), Dick (570) and Herbs (562) complete the top 5 spaces. A healthy 96 point lead for The Gaffer but there is a very, very long way to go. Poor Vailesy is last on 382 points so trails by a massive 291 points!!!!
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Wolves Jody Craddock. Top Scorers for each position are Peter Cech of Chelsea (52 points), Arsenals Thomas Vermaelen (96 points), Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas (109 points) and Didier Drogba is the top scoring forward (and player) with 141 points.

The Gaffer continues to tick along nicely with 62 points scored so far this month (Joint 2nd with Dicky) but it is Collier-Browner who leads the way with 67 points. Bowler and Douglas find themselves at a different end of the table than they are used to as they occupy 4th spot along with Weeksy (all on 55pts). Its early days though and only 42 points separate the entire 16 participants!
The Gaffer leads the way overall with 617 points. Dave (548), Claire (542), Dick (536) and Herbs (534) complete the top 5 spaces. A healthy 69 point lead for The Gaffer but there is a very, very long way to go. 38 points separate Dave in 2nd and Weeksy in 8th!!!!

Real Xmas party booked
Real have booked their Xmas party for Saturday 19th December. The venue is the village hall which claims to be the cheapest night ever. Stay tuned for more.
Real net grant
Real Bristol have been awarded £450 from the sports foundation. Real have purchased a new full size samba goal, training equipment, water bottles and mitre match balls. The goods should be with us in a week or 2.
The Week Ahead
The Old Firm defied the odds and grabbed draws in Europe to mess up the Top Tip last week. Lets see what lies ahead this week:
Monday
Liverpool v Brum is an 8pm kick off, live on ESPN. Benitez surely needs a win to save his job. I think he will get it with a comfortable 3-0 victory. Liverpool fans will probably be hoping they get beat so they do get rid of him. In the Championship Barnsley host Sheff Utd (7:45 kick off live on Sky Sports 1). This will be fiery I am sure and Sheff United really need something after a dreadful run of results. A 1-1 draw looks the bet. In the FA Cup I expect a 2-0 win for Millwall against AFC Wimbledon.
Tuesday
JPT Action. Those gamblers out there LEAVE IT ALONE. These JPT games are not to gamble on. The one game you should be able to rely on is Live on Sky Sports 1 (7:45 K.O). Leeds face Grimsby at Elland Road and there can only be one winner. 3-0 to Leeds.
Wednesday
One game and its live on Sky Sports 1 (7:45 K.O). Will predict Southampton 2 v 0 Charlton.
Thursday
No Games.
Friday
Only action is again Live on Sky Sports 1(8pm K.O). Northern Ireland U21s will surely be no match for Germany U21s and could be on the worng end of a 3-1 scoreline. The Gaffer and 13 others fly out to Dublin for his stag do. Its gonna get messy! First up its F1 Go-Karting on Friday.
Saturday
Paintballing Saturday morning for the stag party. Lots of football action with the following selected: Brazil 1 v 1 England, N.Ireland 1 v 1 Serbia, Wales 0 v 0 Scotland. World Cup Play Off Qualifying Games: Greece 2 v 1 Ukraine, Portugal 3 v 1 Bosnia, Russia 2 v 0 Slovenia and The Stag party will be in Dublin cheering on Rep.Ireland to a 2-1 win against France.
Sunday
The Stag party will be recovering from the night before arriving back at Bristol Airport at 9:30pm. No football action on Sunday anywhere.
Top Tip: Jordan to be sick first
Liverpool, Millwall (Both Monday) and Leeds (Tuesday) all to win. Banker treble!

Real draw Downend at home in GFA Quarters
Real Bristol will face Downend at home in the quarter finals of the GFA Cup. The Regional league PRem club only have 1 league win this season and 2 defeats at the hands of table toppers Sporting Bristol and Lebeq.
Quarter final draw:
Hanham Sunday Vs Stapleton Sunday
Lebeq Vs Ashton
Real Vs Downend
Beaufort Vs Easton Cowboys Sunday
The Week Ahead
Fresh off the back of a correct Top Tip (Were you on?) here is the latest edition of The Week Ahead).
Today
Championship Action with Newcastle at Bramall Lane to take on Sheff Utd. This looks tough so will go for 1-1.
Tuesday
Champions League action returns and Chelsea travel to play Atletico Madrid. This will not be as easy as it proved to be at The Bridge and I fancy a 1-1 draw. United host CSKA Moscow and should have no problems cruising to a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. The other stand out tie will see Real Madrid away to Milan. I fancy a lot of goals again and will plump for a 2-2 draw.
Wednesday
More British interest in the Champions League with Arsenal home to AZ Alkmaar. They shouldnt find this too tricky so will say 2-0 to The Gunners. Liverpool really need a win in Lyon but I really think 0-0 looks the bet there. Rangers have all sorts of issues and will get beat at Unirea Urziceni 3-1. Premiership action at Upton Park. West Ham in much need of 3 points against Villa. This has a draw written all over it, 1-1.
Thursday
Europe League action with 3 British clubs in action but unfortunately I cant see a win for any of them. Everton host Benfica in what looks like the biggest opportunity for a British win but they got hammered by Benfica and are surely focusing on improving their league position. Add to this they are missing a load of players through injury and I just cannot see a home win. Will say 0-0. Fulham will lose 2-0 at Roma and Celtic have little chance at Hamburg and could also lose 2-0.
Friday
FA Cup Action. The Gas may be haunted by the return of Rickie Lambert as I fancy The Saints to win 2-1. Huddersfield will beat Dag & Red 2-1 and Notts County will win 2-0 in the other first round tie. Derby host Coventry in The Championship. I fancy Derby to win 2-1.
Saturday
Full fixture list with Arsenal live on TV (5:30 k.o) away at Wolves. They will surely be too good for Wolves (3-0 win). The Gills host Southend in Round One of the FA Cup and The Gills will be in the hat after a 1-0 home win. City travel to Forest and are not in the best of form. Adebola and Co to beat City 2-1. In The FA Cp keep a look out for Paulton Rovers who play Norwich. A massive day for this local club against one of the biggest clubs in the competition at this stage. I think Norwich will prove way too strong and will go for a 6-0 win (hope I am wrong).
Sunday
Real Bristol are at home against A1 as top plays second. I fancy Real Bristol to make it 10 wins out of 10 with a hard fought 4-0 victory. Great TV coverage on Sunday with Hull facing Stoke (1 30ko) up first. Stoke could be about to hammer the nail into Phil Browns coffin. I will go for a repeat in last season scoreline in this fixture a 2-0 win for The Potters. West Ham v Everton and Wigan v Fulham both kick off at 3pm (2 x 1-1 draws perhaps) with the 2nd TV game coming from Stamford Bridge where Chelsea host United. This will be a hell of a game and I am going to say it will finish 2-2.
Top Tip: Rangers (Wed), Celtic and Fulham (Both Thurs) all to lose away from home in Europe .
Real On Cloud Nine As They Reach Quarter Finals
In horrible conditions Real Bristol brushed aside Regional Premier Division side AXA 2-0 to reach the Quarter-Finals of the GFA Premier Cup. A goal from Matt Steele in each half secured the victory in Pilning that now means Real Bristol have won 9 / 9 matches so far this season.
First Half
Real were up against the wind first half and should have struggled but did really well in the blustery conditions and still manage to create chances. They went close on a few occasions with Shane Douglas hitting the post and Matt Steele hitting the bar with a terrific overhead kick. With some good balls into the box from both channels Real were looking strong. The first goal came on the half hour mark. Smithy found Matt Steele with a pass and he turned the defender before shooting on the turn with his left foot. The keeper should have done better but it somehow found its way past him to the delight of the home fans. When called upon the defence stood strong and Lips was up to the task and on hand to make a save when required.
Half Time: Real Bristol 1 v 0 AXA
Second Half
Now playing with the wind you would perhaps have thought the game was now a forgone conclusion. You would be wrong. Playing with such a strong wind proved to be very difficult and the opening stages saw both teams getting forward. Jason tested their keeper early on in the half with two shots well struck from outside the area. Unfortunately the keeper got down well to save them both. Vailesy was extremely unlucky when he rose well to head a corner goalwards. The ball came back off the inside of the post before being cleared. A great opportunity for a second came when Shane Douglas was judged to have been fouled inside the area and the ref pointed to the spot. Smithy stepped up but sent the kick over the crossbar. 3 substitutions were made with Bowler, Collier-Browner and Macey replacing Dick,Smithy and Weeksy respectively. The crucial second goal finally arrived, and it was in bizarre fashion. A free kick deep in our own half was taken by Lips and wind assisted the ball bounced over the goalkeeper. He turned to see the ball come back off the inside of the post and fall straight to Matt Steele who made no mistake from 6 yards. Collier-Browner went close to making it 3-0 towards the end, cutting in from the left before shooting wide with the outside of his right foot.

Managers Comments
The conditions today were atrocious with really strong winds making it very difficult for both teams. Having said that both teams did get the ball down and looked to play and that was great to see. I thought we played some fantastic stuff and the desire that my lads have shown is terrific. Against that wind in the first half we did brilliantly and fully deserved our lead at the break. We created some good chance and played some truly sexy football at times given the conditions. To reach the last 8 of the GFA Premier Cup is a fantastic achievement and the players deserve a lot of credit for the way they are performing. To have won all 9 fixtures so far this season is terrific and if we keep working hard then that run can continue. There is no easy game in the ¼ finals but I would like a home tie.

Le Beq Reserves 1
Real Bristol 3
Real made it 8 wins out of 8 with a hard fought victory away to Le Beq reserves in Round Two of The Gilbert Pullin Cup. Apologies there is not much of a report but was very busy on the sideline this week.
5 - Le Beq force several corners, one after the other but it comes to nothing.
12 - Le Beq Shoot over.
15 - Jason flies in with a crunching tackle that is late and he is shown a yellow card.
18 - Le Beq Striker shoots wide
26 - Corner for Le Beq. Cleared.
35 - Gaol (1-0). Le Beq winger gets space down the left after beating two Real players. He sends in a great cross which results in Palmer heading into his own goal to give the home side the lead.
40 - Well worked move with a through ball finding Matt Steele. He rounds the keeper but the whistle goes as the linesman flags offside.
42 - Lips mashalls the ball out of play for a goal kick. In the process he goes shoulder to shoulder with the Le Beq forward. They sqaure up to one another and the Le Beq striker pushes his head into Lippys sending him to the ground. Lips gets back up and he is pushed off. The ref has seen it all and the Le Beq forward is shown a straight red card.
45 - HALF TIME: Le Beq Res 1 v 0 Real Bristol
53 - Substitution: Weeksy replaces Macey with Herbs moving over to RB.
60 - Goal (1-1). Smithy slides to send a through ball in Matt Steeles direction and makes no mistake, poking the ball past the Le Beq keeper to equalise for the visitors.
63 - Goal (1-2). The game is turned on his head in a matter of 3mins. Dick, on the half way line, nutmegs a defender before passing inside to Shane. He puts through a great ball for Matt Steele to run onto. He takes a great touch before sending the ball past the keeper.
69 - Goal (1-3). A third goal in a great 10 minute spell. Weeksy sends in a corner and Shane gets up really well to head goalwards. Its cleared off the line but falls straight to Aaron who smashes the ball home to make it 3-1.
80 - Dick sqaures to Matt Steele who has a great chance to kill the game off and bag his hat-trick but he shoots over the bar.
83 - A scramble in the box which sees Lips make a fantastic save before its cleared.
85 - Le Beq look certain to score from close range but Weeksy comes from nowhere and slides to block/tackle the Le Beq striker.

Man Of The Match: Jason. The fans, players and the manager all agreed. Fantastic effort. Well deserved.
Managers Comments
The lads did really well again today. Considering the fact that changes were made going into such a big game I am really pleased to have beaten Le Beq Reserves on their own turf. The first half was always going to be difficult against such strong winds and although they may point to the sending off as the pivotal moment I do believe we would have still turned it around in the second half. Matt has taken his goals well, the 5 in midfield worked their socks off and the defence stood up to them and won their battles. Lips was immense also. Overall, I am pleased to get the win and it gives us further confidence going into our GFA Cup game against AXA, which I feel we be our biggest test yet.
I am not worried about who we get in the next round of The Gilbert Pullin. To be the best you have to beat the best. Would like a home draw though.
Very well done to all the lads. 8/8 this season. Lets keep our feet on the ground, keep working hard and take it one game at a time.

Player Ratings
Lips 8 - Did extremely well not to retaliate in that incident. Good keeping also throughout.
Herbert 7 - Winger got in behind a few times but looked to win tackles and headers where possible.
Vailsey 8 - Crucial 3rd goal to kill them off and defended well.
Palmer 8 - Fantastic leader at the back never put a foot wrong
Macey 7 - Passing not as precise as last week but defensively sound getting stuck in and competing in the air.
Shane 8 - Worked really hard and made himself available all the time. One assist too.
Jason 9 - He was everywhere with crunching tackles and neat passing. A great performance.
Jordan 8 - As always he ran his socks off for the cause and broke the play up really well.
Smithy 8 - Another impressive game for Smithy. Put in a huge shift and grabbed an assist for the equalizer.
Dick 7 - Really wasteful at time but in the final 3rd he put in some good low crosses and played big part in 2nd goal.
Matt S 8.5 - Scored two goals to turn game on its head. They say its hard playing up front on your own but he continues to do it superbly.
Subs
Weeksy 7 - Came on for last 37 mins and did brilliantly. Good in possessiona dn a goal saving tackle.
Dwain 6 - Came on for 15mins and made one of there guys bump to the floor. Ouch. Did all he could in time he had.

Herbert has moved from 11th to 4th but it is still his younger brother who leads the way. Nina continues to do well. Could we have a girl winning two months in a row? She trails by 10 points in second place.
The Gaffer has the overall lead with 486 points. Weeksy having only added 20 point slips in the overall standings from joint second to 8th with Dave Herbert 2nd on 474 and Mrs Gaffer 3rd on 457.

The Week Ahead
Today
Carling Cup Action with Man Utd travelling to Barnsley. Despite certain rotation United should be too strong for their Championship opponents so I will predict a 2-0 win. Peterborough will surely be more focused on league matters and so a trip to Blackburn could see them on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline. After the heroic win at White Hart Lane The Potters travel to play Pompey where another 1-0 away win looks good. Sunderland to draw 1-1 with Villa and Spurs to bounce back with a 2-0 home win against Everton. In League One Rovers are on a slippery slope right now and should get beat at home to Leeds (3-1).
Wednesday
More Carling Cup Action: Arsenal 3-1 Liverpool, Chelsea 2-0 Bolton, Man City 3-0 Scunthorpe.
Thursday
No matches
Friday
QPR v Leicester in the Championship. After a good win at Reading last night Leicester will be feeling confident but QPR are a lot stronger than Reading and I expect a 2-0 home win. The Gills go to Southend in League One and in League Two Grimsby face Accrington Stanley. I am thinking a couple of 1-1 draws for these.
Saturday
Full fixture list with The North London derby kicking things off (12:45 k.o). Arsenal look good going forward and although they are conceding also I still think they will win this one (4-2). At 3pm the following take place: Bolton 1-1 Chelsea, Stoke 2-0 Wolves, Bristol City 2-1 Sheff Wed, MK Dons 4-1 Gas. The tea-time game (5:30 k.o) will see United take on Blackburn at Old Trafford. Blackburn conceded 6 at Arsenal, 5 at Chelsea and so 4 at Old Trafford seems possible (4-0).
Sunday
Real Bristol are at home for just the 3rd time in 9 matches when AXA come to play us in the GFA Cup. This will be a very big test for us but having won all 8 games so far a home win under conditions that AXA wont like looks on the cards (4-2). In the Prem Man City should win (2-1) away at Brum. Cardiff could win by the same scoreline at home to Forest. In league One it will finish Oldham 0-0 Huddersfield.
Top Tip: Unfortunately
The Gas are there for the taking at the moment. Home to Leeds and then Away
to MK Dons in the next 5 days. Looks like 2 defeats to me. Jump on the double!

Here are the scores after the second round of games for October. There are 3 scores present for everyone: The list is in the order of your score for October. The table also shows your Previous Total Score (For August and September Combined) and Your New Total Score (Season Competition).
Dave Herbert has moved from 2nd to 1st with a 2 point lead over Shane Douglas. Shane, whos team started really slow, are finally coming good and he is well in the mix for October having climbed 8 places this week. 3rd 9th are separated by just 13 points so it really is all to play for.
Claire and The Gaffer (soon to be wed-wahoo!) are tied for the overall lead with 405 points. Dave Herbert and Weeksy are hot on their tails with 396 points.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Blackburn midfielder David Dunn. Top Scorers for each position are David James of Pompey (35 points), Arsenals Thomas Vermaelen (84 points), Arsenal midfielder Andrei Arshvin and Blackburns David Dunn (64points) and Didier Drogba is the top scoring forward (and player) with 96 points.

The week ahead
After two weeks absence The Week Ahead returns ...
Today
Lots of action with Liverpool taking on Lyon at Anfield in the Champions League. I do fancy Liverpool to bounce back here with a 2-0 home win and although Arsenal have a tougher game away at AZ Alkmaar I do fancy them to get the win also, 2-1. Rangers host Unirea Urziceni and they look a good thing and should win (2-0). In the Championship City will beat Plymouth 3-1.
Wednesday
Utd kick off at 5:30pm in Moscow where a 0-0 draw looks a good bet and a good result. Chelsea host Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge and although the visitors can cause problems I expect Chelsea to be too strong (2-0). In Group C Real Madrid take on AC Milan in a mouth-watering clash at the Bernabeau. Even without Cristiano Ronaldo I think it looks like yet another home win (2-1).
Thursday
Europa League action with many games. British interest as Celtic face Hamburg at Celtic Park. Celtic dont lose many at home but after failing to score against Motherwell last weekend it doesnt give me much confidence against a strong Hamburg side. They may score but will say a 1-1 draw. Fulham, who have been resting players in their games in The Europe League, will surely put out a full strength side when they host Italian Giants Roma at Craven Cottage. I think they will get a creditable 1-1 draw. Earlier (6pm k.o) Everton may not be quite so successful when they travel to face Benfica. Unfortunately for Moyes and his side I think they will get beat 2-1.
Friday
Championship fixture between Watford and Sheff Wednesday. Watford will be in good spirit after beating Boro away on Saturday so a 2-1 home win against The Owls looks a good prediction.
Saturday
A few of our teams involved. Stoke have what looks a daunting trip to White Hart Lane and you have to be brave to think Stoke will get something here. My head is telling me 2-1 to Spurs but f#ck my head I am going with my heart and predicting a 2-2 draw. At 5:30 Chelsea take on Blackburn and with home advantage should cruise to a 3-0 win. City travel to Barnsley where 1-1 looks good and in League One The Gas have a local derby as they host Yeovil. Despite successive defeats I think The Gas will bounce back here and win 3-1. In the same division The Gills face Charlton and I fancy Herbs lads to spring a surprise here (2-1).
Sunday
Real travel to play Le Beq reserves in the Gilbert Pullin Cup. This is going to be a difficult game but as long as we take work hard and give it 100% then we should win (3-1). Liverpool face United at Anfield for a 2pm kick off and the fitness of Gerrard and Torres will play a big part in which way this game goes. The truth is I think they are both struggling for fitness and therefore I can see all 3 points heading to Old Trafford with United winning 1-0. Arsenal travel to West Ham and after what I think will be a tough work out at AZ I think they will probably leave West Ham with a solitary point (1-1). Elsewhere I will predict Bolton 1-1 Everton and Man City 4-0 Fulham.
Top Tip: United to draw in Moscow (Wed) and Celtic to draw hosting Hamburg (Thus). Looks to certain draws and at over 8/1 for the double has to be backed.
Real cruise to 7th win with 7 goals
Real crush Lloyd by 7 goals to nil. Read more under match reports
Real left short for Lloyd trip
Real will be without 4 players on their away visit to Lloyd Utd. Herbs, Weeksy, Rusty and Browner are all on winter holidays, Browner apparently has been looking forward to his "holiday" for some time now!

The Gaffer leads the way after a terrific start to October scoring 45 points. Dave Herbert trails by only 7 points and with 3rd 12th separated by just 16 points it really is all to play for. With may games left this month is sure to be all change at some point.
Claire still leads the season standings with 387 points. The Gaffer climbs several places to move into second and just 2 points off the lead. Dicky moves down from 2nd to 3rd with 365 points.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is a tie between Burnley Keeper Brian Jensen and Stoke City Striker Dave Kitson. Top Scorers for each position are David James of Pompey (36 points), Arsenals Thomas Vermaelen (81 points), Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas (60points) and Didier Drogba is the top scoring forward (and player) with 88 points.

Adidas tracksuits and training jumpers are in
The waiting is over. Real have now recieved the new Adidas tracksuits and windbreakers and Real would like to say a huge "Thankyou" to new sponsors "The Old Tavern" in Stapleton for supplying the new clothing.
The tracksuits and windbreaks RRP at £55 for both and RBFC players are snapping them up for £20 for the lot. Players are also reminded that you can spread the payments out of either £1 a week, or £4 a month.
Super Real extend their lead
Real extended their lead and are now 5 points clear from second place after their 4-0 win over Lebeq Reserves.
In a fast flowing game, Real went in at half time 3-0 up thanks to Matt Steele, Scott Bowler and Shane Douglas getting on the score sheet.
Lebeq Reserves had a player sent off for a second bookable offence in the second half and when Scott Bowler was hacked down in the area, Smithy had a great chance to wrap the game up and he made no mistake from the penalty spot.
The referee had to blow up 15 minutes early due to constant abuse from the Lebeq sideline.
Real travel to Lebeq Reserves in Pullin Cup
Real will face Lebeq Reserves twice in 3 weeks as they were drawn against them in the Gilbert Pullin Cup which will be played on October 25th at Packers playing field, Whitehall.
Real back @ Greenway centre
Real's training sessions will now be held back at the Greenway Centre on Thursday's at 20.30 til 21.30. Players are asked to bring a £1 to cover the cost of the indoor court.
Short gets Real trial
Gaffer Scott Budding has taken Dwain Short on trial. Budding said "Dwain is looking to get involved and has set his sights on next season so he will training with us to get his fitness up.
Having played with Dwain a few years ago, I think he could be a great addition to the team"
Dream Team

The Gaffer
Real drawn at home in Round Two
Real Bristol will have home advantage when they face AXA Sunday in the second round of the G.F.A Cup on Sunday November 1st.
AXA Sunday, who play in The Bristol Regional Sunday Premier Division progressed following an impressive 4-1 victory at BAWA on Sunday and will pose as serious opposition to in-form Real Bristol.
Manager Scott Budding commented on the draw and his sides chances and he seemed optimistic:
I am very pleased with the draw we have because I feel home advantage is important. There are no easy games in The G.F.A Senior Cup and so when you play these sides it is good to get them on, what for them, is unfamiliar ground. AXA Sunday have been a top Sunday side for a number of years and are a truly well established club. They had a terrific result in round one and also picked up a good point in the league against Bristol Athletic. Make no mistake about it, we will have to be at our very best to reach the ¼ Finals but I really do believe that we are capable of winning the tie and reaching the ¼ finals which would be a fantastic achievement for everyone at the club. The lads are playing well, working hard and I am sure they will give it their all when the time comes.
The draw for the second round threw up some mouth-watering clashes with Post Office Sports hosting last seasons winners Hanham Sunday and Le Beq Tavern Courage being drawn at home against league rivals Beaufort (who Le Beq beat 2-0 a few weeks back).
The G.F.A Senior Cup Draw In Full:
All Saints v Downend
Post Office Sports v Hanham Sunday
Easton Cowboys v UWE Dynamos
Stapleton Sunday v AFC Redland
Real Bristol v AXA Sunday
Ashton v Southmead Community Sports Sunday
Le Beq Tavern Courage v Beaufort
Le Beq v Katsura Sunday
A look at the football week ahead
After two weeks in a row getting the Top Tip last week was a disaster with Chelsea and The Gas letting me down so gonna make amends this week.
Today
Man City face West Ham at Eastlands. Expect goals and a home win, possibly 3-1.
Tomorrow
Champions league action with Liverpool facing a tough trip to Italy to face Fiorentina. Maybe my heart rules my head but I fancy Liverpool to get beat (1-0). Arsenal should beat Olympiacos (3-0) and finally Rangers face a tough European game at home to Sevilla. They will give it their all but I cant see them winning. Will say a 1-1 draw. In the Championship City face in-form Blackpool at The Gate and this could be another 1-1. The Gas are likely to be outclassed at St.Marys and lose to Southampton (2-0).
Wednesday
Chelsea go to Cyprus to face Apoel Nicosia where they should win. Nicosia will be no pushovers as they drew 0-0 at Atletico Madrid but I think Chelsea will win 2-0. United also face a good test with a home game against Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg have good, strong forwards but I cant help but think they will be too weak at the back so I will say 2-0 United. In the Championship Newcastle v QPR is the stand out and I think this looks like another home win (2-0).
Thursday
Europa League action with many games. British interest as Celtic face Rapid Vienna. They showed Villa that they can play by eliminating them in the previous round but I think Celtic will win (2-1). Fulham are likely to make changes against Basel but should win (1-0) and Everton face a tough trip to play BATE. They have a big league game against the mighty Potters on Sunday so are likely to rest players so I will go for a 1-1 draw.
Friday
No Action.
Saturday
A lot of our teams involved. Here are the scores I predict: PREM United 2 Sunderland 0, Newcastle 3 City 1, Norwich 3 Gas 1, Saints 2 Gills 0.
Sunday
Real travel to play Quayside in the league. This looks like a difficult game as they are a well established division one side and have some good players but we are on a roll at present and as long as we take nothing for granted and give it 100% then we should win (3-0). Arsenal should beat Blackburn (3-0) and there is a cracker at 4pm with Chelsea playing Liverpool. Cech being suspended is a big loss and I will go with a 1-1 draw. Stoke face a huge task at Goodison Park. My head says 3-1 Everton, my heart says we can get a 1-1 draw. We will see
Top Tip: Arsenal (v Olympiacos), Newcastle (v QPR), United (v Sunderland), Arsenal (v Blackburn), Newcastle (v City), Norwich (v Gas) and Saints (v Gills). Get on the Accumulator! Not looked at the odds but I reckon this will be around 14/1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dream Team Update
Here are the latest scores after for the September Dream Team. There are 3 scores present for everyone: The list is in the order of your score for September. The table also shows your Previous Total Score (For August) and Your New Total Score (Season Competition).
As you can see Claire is top of the September league having moved up 6 places many thanks to Robbie Keane. Smithy is just 4 points behind and with Just todays game and the Champions League games left of this months competition it looks like being one of these two who will win. Dickys Gym Xl were the biggest movers climbing from 13th to 4th. The race for the 3rd place prize money looks set to go to the wire with just 10 points between 3rd and 7th.
Claire also now leads the season standings moving up 6 places to lead by 18 points from Dicky. Herbs, who was leading the way, has dropped 5 places to 6th.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is a tie between Burnley Keeper Brian Jensen and Stoke City Striker Dave Kitson. Top Scorers for each position are Robert Green of West Ham (37 points), Arsenals Thomas Vermaelen (69 points), Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun (51 points) and Wayne Rooney of Man Utd is the top scoring forward (and player) with 84 points.

Real secure sponsor
Real Bristol FC have secured a sponsorship with The Old Tavern public house, Blackberry Hill, Stapleton. The Real Bristol board, gaffer and captain met with the owner and the sponsor is now complete.
The RBFC board had this to say " It seemed like it had been a long time coming after giving other company's time to decide on a sponsorship but The Old Tavern have been fantastic and we can now put the sponsorship side under the carpet and kick on with our season. The Old Tavern has just had a full revamp and is a fantastic pub with all the extra's of, plasma's, sky tv, pool table and darts and new garden and a very lovely cheap pint of Stella "
Adidas tracksuits and windbreakers have now been ordered and will be here in a couple of weeks.

PPOL Xl are on the march moving from 13th to 4th in the September competition. Herbs leads the season competition by 2 points over The Gaffer.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Burnley Keeper Brian Jensen. He isnt the top scoring goalkeeper though as Robert Green of West Ham is top with 37 points. The top scoring defender is Arsenals Thomas Vermaelen with 64 points. The top scoring midfielder is Yossi Benayoun with 48 points. Wayne Rooney of Man Utd is the top scoring forward (and player) with 81 points.

A look at the football week ahead
After two weeks in a row getting the Top Tip correct the pressure is now on. Not a lot of midweek action with the Carling Cup providing the games. For you gamblers out there the Carling Cup is not something you want to be betting on.
Today
Non-League action only.
Tomorrow
Carling Cup action with Stoke home to Blackpool. Pulis is likely to make 10 changes for the game but I still fancy The Potters (2-0). Arsenal Kids should beat West Brom (2-1). The live game comes from Elland Road where Leeds face Liverpool. Benitez likely to rest his major stars and an upset is not impossible. I will say Liverpool to win 2-1 after extra time.
Wednesday
Chelsea and Man Utd have home games against QPR and Wolves respectively. Both Ancelotti and Ferguson will surely rotate and give some of the fringe/youth players a game. I still feel both of these teams will be too strong on home soil and expect both Chelsea (3-1) and Utd (2-0) to win their matches.
Thursday
No action.
Friday
Mouth-Watering League Two action with Accrington Stanley facing Crewe. A score-draw looks likely (1-1 maybe).
Saturday
Proper football returns with a lot of our teams involved. Gaffer is off to The Britannia Stadium to see Stoke play Manchester United. The greatest team in the world against Manchester United. Going to say 1-1 with Abdoulaye Faye and Rooney getting the goals. Elsewhere, Arsenal go to Fulham and I expect the Gunners to win. They are scoring for fun and I fancy a 2-0 victory. Wigan, Fresh from a whooping against Arsenal, now have the pleasure of facing Chelsea. Although at home they will be beaten (3-1). Bristol City travel to Derby and could pinch a 2-1 win. Rovers are on fire and should win (2-0) home to Brighton. Sorry Herbs but fancy The Gills to get beat at home to Norwich (2-1).
Sunday
Real travel to play Coalpit Shaft in the GFA Cup. This looks like a difficult game but we are on fire and I will predict a 3-1 victory. Sunderland face Wolves in the only Premiership fixture and I can see the home side being triumphant (3-1). The only other game will see Plymouth take on Forest in the Championship. Sturrock is under pressure and needs a result. He may get it (1-0).
Top Tip: Arsenal to win at Fulham,
Chelsea to win at Wigan, Gas to beat Brighton and Sunderland to beat Wolves.
Get on the accumulator!
Another win as Real cruise to cup win at Keynsham
Match report now online against AFC Keynsham.
Palmer speaks about dream start
Ben Palmer has spoke about Real's flying start to life in division 1. He went on " We have had a terrific start but we need to keep our feet on the ground. The first half against The Castle was the best football I have ever seen from the club since we started in 2004 but we cant get carried away. I think a few players did in the second half and we were a totally different team and I can understand why the gaffer was left angry and disapointed. We need to keep working as a team on the pitch and at training as I believe we have one of the best manager's in local football.
When Wayne and myself statred the club, we talked about premier football and hopefully in the very near football I believe our dreams will be with us and it will be a magnificent achievement from the gaffer and everyone at the club"
Real have a fortnight off league action as they travel to AFC Keynsham in the Pullin cup and then Coalpit Shaft in the GFA Cup the week after.
Dream Team Update
Here are the scores after Week 1 of the September Dream Team. There are 3 scores present for everyone: Your Score for September, Your Previous Total Score and Your New Total Score.
According to the stats the best VFM (Value For Money) player is Burnley Keeper Brian Jensen. He isnt the top scoring goalkeeper though as Robert Green of West Ham is top with 36 points. The top scoring defender is Stoke Citys very own Abdoulaye Faye with 38 points. After his hat-trick on the weekend, with 40 points, the top scoring midfielder is Yossi Benayoun. Wayne Rooney of Man Utd is the top scoring forward (and player) with 73 points.

A look at the football week ahead
Off the back of last weeks successful Top Tip coming in (England, Germany Women, Holland and Real Bristol all to win) we will now look at the week ahead.
Today
The only action in England is in League One with what looks a mouth-watering tie as Norwich travel to play MK Dons. This is surely going to be close game but I fancy Norwich to snatch a 2-1 win.
Tomorrow
Its back. The Champions League group stage resumes and Man Utd and Chelsea represent England on Tuesday night. Utd face a tricky trip to Turkey to play Besiktas where a draw probably wont be a bad result. I can see them getting the win though as Rooney is on fire at the moment (2-1 to United). Chelsea face a Porto side at Stamford Bridge that is nowhere near the same class as their Mourinho days and will struggle at The Bridge. 3-0 Home win.
Note: Malouda is being tracked by the police so may not feature. He is being charged with robbery. The incident took place at The Britannia Stadium on Saturday when 94 minutes into the match.
In the championship City travel to Swansea and a draw looks on the cards (1-1).
Wednesday
More Champions League action with Liverpool and Arsenal both having great opportunities to open with a win. Liverpool should be far too strong at Anfield for Debrecen (4-0) and although Arsenal are away from home their trip to Standard Liege should not pose too many problems (2-0 win). One other tie worth mentioning that just jumps out at you is Inter Milan v Barcelona. This has all the makings of a classic. I fancy Inter to win 2-1. I think Etoo will score but will Etoo celebrate? We will see.
Thursday
Europe League Group Action and Everton should be off to a winning start against AEK Athens at Goodison (2-1). Fulham (0-0) away at CSKA Sofia and Celtic (1-1) away at Hapoel Tel-Aviv will both be pleased with the draws I predict. They should be as these are difficult countries to visit.
Friday
Sheffield Derby at Bramall Lane and I think The Blades will be too strong. Fancy 2-0 home win.
Saturday
A lot of the teams we follow our in action and here is what I predict: Stoke to win 1-0 away at Bolton, City to beat Scunthorpe 2-1 at The Gate, Brentford to draw with The Gas 1-1 and The Gills to lose 3-0 at Leeds. Apart from The Gills game (sorry Herbs) they look like tight ones. Got a sneaky feeling Kitson will score at Bolton and you would be silly not to think Maynard will score with the form he is on. Elsewhere Arsenal should beat Wigan (2-0) and I fancy Liverpool to take all three points away from Upton Park (2-1).
Sunday
Real travel to Keynsham for the second week running. This time they play in The Gilbert Pullin Cup against AFC Keynsham. I will predict a 5-0 away win. Chelsea play Spurs at Stamford Bridge and I fancy them 2-1. Also think Utd will win by the same scoreline at Old Trafford against Man City.
Top Tip: Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton all to win midweek European games. Looks an easy accumulator to me.
Real go top as The Castle get brushed aside
Real continued their good start in division 1 by beating The Castle 5-2 at Fry's. Read more under match reports.
A look at the football week ahead
Today
International Friendly between Rep Of Ireland and S.Africa takes place. Fancy the Rep to win this one 2-0. Some U21 qualifying matches also with England away at Greece. Not an easy game but think Stuart Pearces side could pinch a 1-0 win.
Tomorrow
England play Croatia at Wembley and I expect a tough match but I do think England will win the game. Modric will be missed massively by the Croats and I am going to say England 2 Croatia 1. Northern Ireland have a huge match against Slovakia and they could end up qualifying for the World Cup with a win but I just cannot see it happening and a 1-1 draw looks on the cards. Scotland are in a similar position in their group and a point at home to the Dutch is all they need to secure a play-off place. Again I cannot see them getting the result they are looking for. Holland have won 7 from 7 and will want to finish in style. They have scored 16 and conceded 2 in the process whereas Scotland have a -4 goal difference (For 6, Against 10). The Dutch will win (2-0). Wales will probably lose at home to Russia (2-1 defeat).
Thursday
England women play in the Final of the European Championships against Germany. They have done fantastically well to get this far but the Germans rule the womens game. Lets face it their women arent exactly built like ours are they. Unfortunately I am predicting a 3-0 German victory.
Friday
League One action as Leeds travel to Roots Hall to play Southend. Leeds are on a roll so will predict a 2-1 away win. The only other action sees Accrington take on Darlington and a drab 0-0 looks on the cards.
Saturday
Gaffer is off to The Brit to see Stoke play Chelsea. With Tuncay set to make his first start off the back of an impressive double scored for Turkey (v Estonia) I think Chelsea could be in for a tough game. Maybe my heart is ruling my head but I am going to say 1-1. Others selected: Man City 1-1 Arsenal, Spurs 2-2 United, Coventry 1-2 City, Gas 2-0 Oldham, Gills 1-1 Millwall.
Sunday
Real travel to Frys to play The Castle. This will be a tough game against a side who earned a very good point against LeBeq Reserves on the opening weekend. I still expect Real to get three points and will predict a 3-0 away win. Birmingham play Villa in the prem and I think a typical derby 1-1 draw looks on the cards. Fulham face Everton in the other prem game. Could be another 1-1 draw. Cardiff host Newcastle in the Championship. A hat-trick of 1-1s? Could be.
Top Tip: England, Germany Women, Holland
and Real Bristol all to win.
Revenge is sweet four real
Real Bristol started life in Division one with a well deserved 4-1 victory over BAWA. Read more in the reports section.
Man in black
Jon Rogers will be the man in charge when Real face BAWA in the first game of the season. Rogers has took a total of 4 games in charge for Real and is in the top 5 ref's of the regional league.
Real face away trips in cups
Real will travel to 3rd division AFC Keynsham in the Gilbert Pullin cup on 20th September and will be on the road the week after in the GFA cup when they travel to wessex premier team Coalpit Shaft who finished 3rd in the league last season.
Real on the move
Real Bristol will be playing their football and Pilning Village hall this season. After seeing the pitch at Real's presentation night, alot of thinking and debating took place on whether to leave DRG. The move has now finally gone ahead and Real will host Bawa at their new ground on September 6th.
Palmer said " It was a very hard decision, maybe the toughest since the club was formed but in the end we are confident it is the right move. The move is not about making the club money, it is about being in a comfortable position and rewarding the players every year. DRG is the perfect setup and I am hopefull in a few years we can get Pilning Village hall near enough identical as DRG ".
A look at the football week ahead
Today
Newcastle are well fancied to continue their good start and should win 2-0 against Leicester. In the only other game I fancy Peterborough to get the better of Palace and secure a 1-0 home win.
Tomorrow
Transfer deadline day should be fun and keep us all busy. Watch out for more new faces at The Brit. Kranjcar the latest name being linked. JPT action and I fancy: Hereford 1-2 Gas, Gills 2-1 Colchester. These games are always very unpredictable. Thinking of having a bet in the JPT games .. DONT!
Wednesday
No action
Thursday
No action.
Friday
European U-21 Qualifying matches and England travel to Macedonia. A horrible place to go but fancy a 2-0 victory for Stuart Pearces side. Wales and N,Ireland will probably get beat against Czech Rep and Italy respectively. Again could be some more 2-0 scorelines. A couple of league one and league two games also taking place. Oldham 3-1 Hartlepool, Southend 1-1 L.Orient, Morecambe 0-0 Rochdale and Northampton 3-1 Barnet.
Saturday
England play an International friendly at Wembley against Slovenia. England should be too strong. I expect a 3-0 home win. Qualifiers for some of the home nations look promising. I predict: Poland 2-1 N.Ireland, Cyprus 0-1 Rep.Ireland, Scotland 3-1 Macedonia. Rovers have a tasty game at The Mem against Millwall and I think they may get a point (1-1). I expect a home win against Exeter for The Gills (1-0).
Sunday
RBFC host BAWA in the opening league game. A tough match to start with but with the pre-season we have had I predict a 3-0 home win for Real. No pro matches of any significance take place.

Here is the table after all games in August. Shay Given (29pts), William Gallas (40pts), Andrei Arshavin (31pts) and Wayne Rooney (39pts) are the top scoring players for each position. According to the stats Brian Jensen at £1 million stands as the best VFM (Value For Money) player so far.
Very tight at the top with 12 points separating the top 5. Browner went from leading to falling just sort of any prize money as he tied 4th with Dicky. Claire did the girls proud climbing 5 places to finish a very respectable 7th and just 11 points short or a prize. Douglas moved up 6 places from bottom to 10th. Jordan got the wooden spoon. Congrats to Herbert, Magic Man and Me for winning cash. Those who have not paid me please do so ASAP so can pay winners.

The Gaffer
Real suffer pre-season defeat
Real Bristol 2 (Matt Steele x 2)
Little Stoke 3
Real suffered defeat at the hands of the Suburban Prem 2 side but were unlucky to do so having put in a fine performance. Matt Steele gave us a deserved lead when he superbly headed home a well delivered free kick from Smithy. Lips made a rare error when he allowed a pea roller type shot to trickle through his hands and creep over the line. A gift for the visitors and the lead was surrendered within 10 mins. It was a good first half performance with some decent football being played despite difficult playing conditions. There was also some great defensive work being displayed during a very encouraging 45 mins. Real were very unlucky to not be leading at half time and could have had a few more goals. Smithy in particular had a great opportunity when making a fantastic run in behind Matt Steele but unfortunately he didnt quite execute his left footed volley and the ball sailed wide. Matt may have had another goal if he knew he had time when shooting on the turn from 12 yards out on the angle. He had a call but didnt hear.
The starting eleven returned to the field including Jason who was bravely continuing despite taking a horrible kick to the chin which was clearly causing a lot of pain. It continued to be a well contested affair with some good play by both teams. It was very end to end until there came a decisive turning point in this game, A ball over the top got their winger chasing in behind our defence and when Lips came out to clear the danger it was looking like a close race to the ball. As Lips went to launch the ball up field their winger just got their first and clipped a shot towards goal. As he did so Lips, already committed, caught their player and sent him to the ground. The shot he had bounced agonisingly wide for the visitors. Amazingly the ref pulled it back, awarded a penalty and sent off Lips. Little Stoke had their forward sent off as he had reacted to the tackle by pushing Lips twice, with the second push to the face forcing Lips to the ground.
Jason, still in a lot of pain and clear swelling to his chin, was replaced by Macey as we changed to a 4-3-1-1 formation. Macey made a great effort to save the penalty but although he got a touch to it the ball still found the bottom corner. Little Stoke hardly had time to celebrate though as some good football got us to the edge of the box and when Browner beat a man the ball fell to Matt Steele who, with the keeper off his line, chipped an effort goal wards that crept in at the near post to make it 2-2. With around 10 mins remaining the visitors got what proved to be the winning goal. An effort from the edge of the area looked like being a comfortable save for Macey but unfortunately for the stand-in keeper as he went to save it with a kick up field he missed/sliced the ball and it found the bottom corner. Real pressed for the equaliser but it wasnt meant to be and the game finished 2-3.
I am very pleased with the performance from the lads. I am not worried about the result at all because what is important is that the lads showed effort, commitment and desire and they certainly did. I thought that despite a difficult pitch there was some good football by both teams and it was a very competitive game. They have got 3 very fortunate goals and we have scored 2 excellent goals. We have played the last half hour without our 1st choice keeper and we were also missing 3 regulars so to put in a performance like that against a very good side is extremely encouraging. There were some terrific individual performances and it goes to show that you can take any 3 players out of our squad and we will still have a side that can compete and play decent football. Depth is important.
It was pleasing to see Matt Steele confirming to everyone he really has found his goalscoring touch with another couple of goals and I will give a special mention to Palmer who was immense at the back. There are many others who I could talk about as there really were some fine performances. We should take the positives out of this game and I am sure their keeper, who plays for the BAWA, will be going back with a clear message That Real Bristol mean business. Yes we do and we are ready. Lets have it!

Dream Team Update
Here is the table after the two weeks of games in August. Brian Jensen (23pts), William Gallas (34pts), Cesc Fabregas (28pts) and Jermaine Defoe (39pts) are the top scoring players for each position. According to the stats Shawcross at £1.5 million stands as the best VFM (Value For Money) player so far.
Very tight at the top with 7 points separating the top 5. Browner was the biggest mover climbing 11 places to go from 12th to 1st where as there were disappointing weeks for Palmer (dropping 10 places to 13th) and Vailesy (dropping 7 places to 14th). Poor old Douglas is still bottom.

The Gaffer
A look at the football week ahead
Today
Liverpool play Villa at Anfield and you have to fancy the home side to win 2-0. Elsewhere Norwich play Sunderland in the Carling Cup. Will Bruce play his first team? I dont think he will as they have a tough away game at Stoke on Saturday. Therefore will say 1-0 to Norwich.
Tomorrow
More Carling Cup action and here are a few of the selected matches. Think the Gills will lose 2-1 home to Blackburn and another game worth keeping an eye on is West Ham v Millwall. If they havent killed eachother by kick off then fancy a 2-0 home win to what will probably be West Ham reserves.
Wednesday
In the Carling Cup I fancy Bristol City to beat Carlisle 2-1 and Stoke to get a result at Leyton Orient (2-0 win). Cardiff should have too much for the Gas and win 2-0. Think these sides will rest players with Stoke likely to make 10 or 11 changes. Still fancy the 3 tipped teams to be too strong, Elsewhere Arsenal play their Champions League qualifying second leg at the Emirates and with a 2-0 lead they will find Celtic coming at them from the word go. This will automatically make them vulnerable to Arsenal on the counter and with their current form they could again beat Celtic 2-0, no problem.
Thursday
The final Carling Cup game and Man City travel to Selhurst Park. Last season I may have predicted an upset but Man City now have a great squad to work with and although many will be rested I think they will get the result (2-1 win). Thursday also sees the Europa Cup 2nd leg matches and I believe Villa can turn around their 1-0 loss in Austria and beat Rapid Vienna 3-0 to progress. Fulham, who lead 3-1 after the 1st leg travel to play Amkar Perm and I think they will draw 0-0 to sail through. Sigma Olomouc were thrashed 4-0 at Goodison but I fancy an upset here with a 1-0 home victory. Everton who need to get off the mark in the league are clearly already through and with a big prem game against Wigan on Sunday I believe they will rest a load of players. Hearts may get a creditable 1-1 draw home to Dinamo Zagreb but after 4-0 1st leg defeat they will not be going through.
Friday
Again we see Millwall are providing the domestic football on a Friday night. Didnt quite get that win as I predicted at Southend last Friday but a home game against Brighton should be a lot easier. Will say 3-0. Elsewhere the European Super Cup takes place in Monaco and I fancy a 3-1 Barcelona win over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Saturday
Browners Stag and a full list of fixtures. Stand out games: Stoke 2-1 Sunderland. Man Utd 2-0 Arsenal. Bolton 1-2 Liverpool. City 0-1 Middlesbrough. Wycombe 3-1 Gas. Walsall 1-1 Gills.
Sunday
Villa could get off the mark with a 2-1 win
home to Fulham. Everton should beat Wigan 2-0 and struggling Pompey could be
4 defeats out of 4 as they host Man City. I think it will be tight but fancy
Man City to pinch it 2-1.
Real smash 9 as goals continue to flow
Real Bristol 9 (Matt Steele 2, Shane 2, Scott, Browner, Herbs, Smithy, Own Goal)
Almondsbury Sunday 0
Real Bristol continued their good goalscoring from defeating Almondsbury Sunday FC 9-0. With a fine Matt Steele strike and a tap in for Smithy Real lead 2-0 at the break. Almondsbury were working hard to try and stop Real from carving them open and saw very little of the ball as the hosts continued to play good, flowing, possession football. Not quite as explosive in and around the box as we had been in the previous matches but still looked a massive threat.
The goals really started to come thick and fast in the second half with some great team goals leading to Shane getting 2 goals and Scott Bowler, Browner, Matt Steele (his second of the game) and an own goal all coming in the second half. The passing in the build up to some of these goals was truly great to watch and its not just the goalscorers we should remember as everyone from Lips through to the strikers was working hard and doing their best for the team. Amongst the second half goals there was a terrific strike from Herbert which flew into the far corner from all of 25/30 yards. Lips made a top save too when in a rare occasion he was called upon.
The team did really well. We have now scored 28 goals in our last 3 game, conceding just one in the process. We can only beat the teams that are put in front of us and we are doing so really well. With all due respect if we were winning these sorts of matches 3-0, 4-2 or something then it would not be so reassuring. We are ripping the teams apart and in the final third we look more dangerous than ever. The midfield have showed again today just how good on the ball they are and the defence have also shown they are organised and reliable, playing through the midfield at every opportunity. Lips breathes confidence into our defence and has had another fine game.
I am really pleased with the fitness levels being shown and the work rate of the players. The goals we are scoring are a joy to watch as is our football.

Ten out of Ten against Whiteladies FC
Real Bristol cruised to a 10-0 victory on Sunday when they played new Saturday side Whiteladies FC. 3 goals from Summer signing Scott Bowler (9 in 3 games now) as well as goals for Lips (Pen), Weeksy x2, Browner, Shane, Own Goal and Macey (Yeah really Macey- this is NOT a typo lol).
The game from start to finish was very comfortable and we were given far too much time on the ball. We punished them well though with some fantastic free-flowing football.
Whiteladies FC really never caused us any problems at all. I think Lips made one save all game and that shot only came because it was a free-kick. They are a brand new team and it did show but I hope this performance doesnt put them off too much as they will not be playing teams of our standard in Suburban Division 6. They were a good bunch of lad and I am sure that over time they will improve. We wish them all the best.
Regardless of whom the opposition were I thought everyone worked really hard and the football being played was beautiful to watch. Yes they were slow in closing us down but our lads were finding space really well and we moved the ball very quickly. We scored some fantastic goals and more importantly our fitness looks good at this stage. With a few more weeks to work on it our fitness levels are looking a lot better.
No disrespect to Real Thornbury/Whiteladies FC when I say this but we were hoping for more of a test from our friendlies so far. We arranged friendlies with these two brand new clubs not really knowing how great or poor they would be. We had hoped for at least one testing fixture from these games but it hasnt turned out that way. I am therefore looking to arrange a fixture for Sunday against one of the teams in the division above us.
The Gaffer
A look at the football week ahead
Today
Arsenal go to Parkhead to face Celtic in the Champions league qualifier 1st leg and I can see Arsenal coming away with a 2-0 victory. There are many league games too with Chelsea visiting Sunderland. This one could be a very close game but like Saturday I feel they will pinch it 2-1. Elsewhere, Bristol City host QPR and seeing as the away teams are not allow to score goals at Ashton Gate I will go for a 1-0 home win. Rovers play Hartlepool away and this is not an easy ground to go to. I will say 1-1, a creditable draw. Gills to win 2-1 home to Colchester.
Tomorrow
Stoke and The Gaffer visit Anfield tomorrow night and this will surely be a massive task for Stoke to come away with anything. My head says 3-0 home win but my heart says 1-1. The other stand out tie is champions Man Utd away to Burnley. Like Saturday, I believe Burnley will lose 2-0.
Thursday
Mark Hammond visits Little Stoke for training session. Thursday will also see the qualifying games take place of UEFAs new Europa League. Although Everton were thumped at Goodison on the weekend I expect an easy 3-0 win over Sigma Oloumac. Fulham should win home to Amkar Perm (maybe 3-1). Villa face a tougher game, travelling to Austria to play Rapid Vienna where I believe they will settle for a 1-1 draw and then be ready to do them at Villa Park. The only other British Club are Hearts who I think could be on the wrong end of a 3-1 result when travelling to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb.
Friday
Southend host Millwall in the only football league fixture. Millwall played really well when away to Southampton so sure they will fancy this. 2-1 Millwall. I fancy Schalke, off the back of an impressive 3-0 victory over Bochum, to take all 3 points at last years surprise package Hoffenhiem. A 1-0 victory perhaps.
Saturday
Full list of Fixtures. Stand out games: Arsenal 3-0 Portsmouth. Birmingham 1-2 Stoke. Liverpool 2-0 Villa. Wigan 0-1 Man Utd. Fancy Rovers will beat Huddersfield and The Gills to beat Hartlepool (both 2-1).
Sunday
Real Bristol may have a friendly against
Sunday Regional Premier side Sportsman (TBC). Will be tough game but fancy Real
to win 3-2. Elsewhere I fancy Fulham to get a point at home to Chelsea (1-1)
and Cardiff to win 2-0 at home to Bristol City (Sorry Jord/Ben etc).
5 Wicket Haul For Bowler
Real Thornbury 1
Real Bristol 9 (Scott x 5, Browner, Jordan, Rusty, Herbert (Pen))
Scott Bowler built on his decent debut when coming on and scoring against Littlesea by notching 5 goals in a comfortable victory over Real Thornbury in the battle of the Reals in Pilning.
The first half started a bit shaky with Real Bristol trying to adapt to playing 3-5-2 and Real Thornbury did have a few great opportunities. Lucky for us, when called upon, Lips was on hand making several fine saves/clearances. On what was a different type of pitch to play on, we soon found our stride and 2 first half goals from Scott Bowler and a fine header from Rusty gave us a deserved 3-0 lead going into half time. It was Rustys 2nd goal in as many games.
The second half was pretty much all one way traffic. 3 more goals for Scott Bowler, one for Browner, one for Jordan and a Herbert penalty rounding off a very comfortable victory for the visitors. Real Thornbury did manage a consolation amongst our 2nd half goals but from the first 5 mins they never looked a match for us.
There was some good passing football with all players looking composed on the ball. After the initial 20/30 mins the players started to keep the ball better and played possession football with a lot more confidence. We scored some good goals and although they got in behind us a few times early on I would like to think this is largely due to playing a different type of formation for the first time and playing on a different (difficult) pitch too. I am very pleased to have scored as many goals as we have but the main thing is that we are improving our fitness and working hard as a team so we are ready for the new season. We can push on again now and take confidence going into our friendly on Sunday against Whiteladies F.C.

at the first attempt picking up just 7 minors in the process. He said if anyone

Real start pre season with comfortable win
Real Bristol started their pre season campaign with a 4-1 win over Littlsea FC. Weeksy, Browner, Rusty and Bowler got the vital goals for Real.
Real Sends Regards
Real Bristol would like to send their best wishes to the family and friends of the great Bobby Robson. As you know Bobby passed away last week and the world is a worse place to be without him. Everyone loved Bobby whether he managed a club you supported or not. A truly special man who was due to come and watch our pre-season friendly against Littlesea on Sunday, having been a close friend of Chairman Ben Palmer for the last couple of seasons.
In memory of the great man here are my top 3 quotes:
1) Journalist: "So Shola, do you have a nickname at the club?"
Shola Ameobi: "Not really, no."
Journalist: "What do the lads call you?"
Ameobi: "Shola."
Journalist: "What does Bobby Robson call you?"
Ameobi: "Carl Cort."
2) "What can I say about Peter Shilton? Peter Shilton is Peter Shilton. He has been Peter Shilton since the year dot."
3) After playing Cameroon in the 1990 World Cup Finals: "We didn't underestimate them. They were just a lot better than we thought."

The Search Continues
With no announcements on further signings there have been rumours that the summer spending spree has already drawn to a close. Contrary to the reports manager Scott Budding revealed otherwise:
We have been unsuccessful with a couple of attempts but the search is ongoing. I am still looking at other potential targets and I can assure the fans that there will be at least one new player signing on the dotted line.
The latest story coming out of Manchester is that Real Bristol had joined Stoke and Sunderland in the race to sign Richard Dunne. Reports suggested that a Real were lining up season-long loan move.
Richard went down to Bristol to have a look at DRG. He seemed quite impressed with the set up at the club but has declined the move stated Mark Hughes. Scott Budding added the following: Richard is a top lad. He did come down to see us but it wasnt for him.
When asked about the rumours surrounding Stoke Goalkeeper Steve Simonsen he replied Steve is a player I have always admired but he is a Stoke City player. He has a contract with them and we have to respect that.
If there are any deals done you will
hear about them here first on the clubs official website.

Two depart
It has been confirmed this morning that two players have left the club and will not be signing on this season. Defenders JB and Ashley, who have been at the club since it formed in 2004, will not be part of the playing squad this season. Manager Scott Budding released the following statement:
JB and Ashley have both been fantastic servants to this football club. We should not forget that if it were not for people such as these two then the club would never have had the foundations upon which we are building on. They both found themselves struggling for starts in the latter half of last season and after discussions between all parties (on and off field issues) these two players will not be playing for the football club. They both have our best wishes and we hope to still see them at games cheering us on.
When questioned as to whether or not Budding would be seeking replacements he responded with the following quote:
I will be looking to bring in one defender perhaps. We do have numerous options already but I am looking for one quality signing to help strengthen this part of my squad. I have been in discussions with a couple of players for other positions in the last week but as of yet nothing has been completed. I hope to tie up a deal or two in the next 7 days but we will see. I will only bring in the right type of players who I believe will help take the club forward and challenge for honours.

Real continue to seek improvement
We caught up with Real Bristol manager Scott Budding to get the latest surrounding the transfer market.
Q/ Are the rumours true that you are looking at new recruits?
A/ As with any team there are always room for improvements and with us going up last season it would be silly if I was not to look at strengthening the squad. I am not looking to replace specific players in the side but adding a quality player or two to the current squad of players will do no harm.
Q/ You already have one signing in the bag with Scott Bowler. You must be pleased!?!?!
A/ Of course. It goes without saying. Scott is a player I have always had in mind and he will prove to be a great addition to the squad. He has a good touch, fantastic pace and a brilliant eye for goal. He has played with many of our players for a while so should not take too long to gel.
Q/ With one in the bag do you foresee many others coming in?
A/ I cannot mention names for obvious reasons but I do have one player who I am looking to bring to the club. I expect discussions to take place over the next week and we will hope tot tie up a deal. I would also like to sign one other player for an area where I feel we need someone. There are a couple of people in mind but I am still exploring options with that one. We will not bring people in for the sake of it and if no further deals get done then I have full confidence in the players that we currently have. I do expected a couple in and a couple out though.
Real Bristol Send Regards To Fan
Real Bristol F.C would like to take a moment to express their sadness to hear off the news that Michael Jackson has passed away.
Michael Jackson was a big fan of ours and recently ordered A Real Bristol Mug and Polo Shirt through staff at the club. Michael Jackson, the undisputed king of pop, will never be forgotten and our best wishes go out to his kids and all of this family at what is obviously a very difficult time.
Michael Jackson (1958 2009).
Real Starts Pre season training.
Training for Real Bristol has now got underway, Training will be held on Thursdays 18:00-20:00 and Sundays 11-13:00. Players are NOT being charged a signing on fee this year but will be asked
to pay £1.50 for training sessions. Hope to see you all there.!!
The Awards
The presentation evening took place on Saturday night and it was a great night which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The winners were as follows:
Top Scorer - Matthew Steele
32 goals this season in what I estimate was around 28 games. That is 1.14 goals per game. Fantastic. They include a 40 yard screamer at Frys and an overhead kick at DRG. Matt has scored a variety of goals including many headed goals and his movement has been impressive, always making himself available for a pass. His predatory instincts inside the area have also helped build his reputation as one of the league best strikers, receiving praise from opposing teams on several occasions. A real team player he is the Magic Man!!!!
Sportsman Of The Year - Smithy
Smithy has showed a fantastic attitude this season and although he found starts hard to come by he never moaned, always worked hard in training and always gave 100%. He would always get behind the team and showed that he cares more about the club than himself. Excellent stuff. Was a close call between Smithy and Vailesy but in the end Smithy won by a split decision. Well done Smithy.
Most Improved - Rusty
Quite a few players could be considered for this award as several players have showed great improvement over the last 12 months but one player stood out to those running the club and that person was Rusty. Rusty really has showed this season that he can be a quality defender. When you look at that performance on the opening day when he gave a silly penalty away for a reckless tackle you would not have been blamed for thinking that we would be seeing the same old Rusty this season but he has improved with every game. He is not reckless now but still gets stuck in. He positions himself well and has improved all aspects of his defensive game forming a solid partnership with Palmer, especially in the second half of the season. He always gives 100% and deserves his recognition as the Most Improved. Well done Rusty.
Fans Players Of The Year - Jordan
Votes for Shane Douglas and Lips but the person with the most votes was the skipper. A fantastic season by Jordan. He has skippered the side to promotion, a GFA cup semi final and led the side out at Frys for the Three Lions Cup Final. Consistent performances have caught the eye with his great work rate, tough tackling and desire to win just a few things that spring to mind. He even got a goal (cost me a fiver - damn). Well done Jord.
Players Player Of The Year - Matthew Steele
Picked up the award to go with the one he collected for being Top Scorer having. There were votes for several players and that was no surprise to see because there have been great seasons for so many players but it was Matt Steele in the end who received the most votes from his teammates. A fantastic season and the votes he received will not just be because of his 32 goals. Matt has learned to play with his back to goal and brings players into the game very effectively. He holds the ball up really well allowing the midfield to join the attack and in the air he has been dominant against the majority of side winning countless flick-ons for our wingers to run onto. A great season and a deserved trophy. Well done Matt.
Managers Player Of The Year - Shane Douglas
This was not a straight forward decision but for me Shane Douglas was the player of the year. He literally covers every blade of grass with every game he plays and since joining the team has proved to be a crucial player for us. He has given us something we were missing and with the other 2 amigos with him he has formed a formidable midfield for Real Bristol. He breaks up the play so well and gets forward at every opportunity with good effect. In the air he is unreal, at times winning balls in the air that he has no real right to win (that goal where he out jumped the keeper springs to mind). Slick passing and tough tackling Shane can be proud of his displays this season. He has scored a couple of cracking goal too (Eg A1 goal). Fully deserves his recognition. Well done Shane.
I just want to congratulate ALL the players for a fantastic season. I appreciate all your effort this season and I have no doubt that with continued hard work we will continue to take this club forward. Work with me, not against me just like you have done this season and I am guaranteeing success. You have all been great to manage this season and if you did not pick up an award please do not think you have not been recognised because I know and appreciate the contribution each and every one of you have made. There are many of you that were in the running for the above awards and it so easily could have gone to you and people would not have complained. As a team you have been great and I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the Stoke Signed shirt. It was a lovely gesture and is something I will cherish forever. Remember VIS UNITA FORTIOR It is tattooed on my back and it means UNITED STRENGTH IS STRONGER. It is so true and our teams united strength enables us to compete with the best of sides. We need to stay united as a team and work hard this summer so we are ready to challenge Division One next season.
Ps Congrats to JB who won main prize in the raffle A whole season paying no subs. In the entire 2009/10 season he will pay £0!
Pps Many thanks to Connie and Chris for their hard this work and also a special thank you to my lovely fiancée Claire who has supported me all season and been there to support the side throughout.

Manager Scott Budding has signed a 3 year contract with Real Bristol and had these words to say " It was an offer too good to refuse. Having enjoyed the first year at the club so much I had no hesitation in signing the contract put in front of me by the board. When I signed for the first year I said this club has potential and can go places fast. The results show I was not lying. When we clinch promotion on Sunday I have a two year plan to get to the top flight and we will kick on from there. Semi-Final scare as Captain nearly torched
There was nearly a horrid incident on Monday
evening at The Gaffers Flat. Jordan, Smithy and Vailesy had popped round for
a bit of Fifa action and for a bite to eat. The food was put in and checked
after 10 mins. The gaffer checked the Chicken Breasts that were put under the
grill and found that they were stone cold. Failing to establish why the grill
was not actually working Jordan stepped in.
He bent down and inspected the grill. Despite the gaffer having no success igniting
the grill Jordan reached over and pressed the ignition button. That immediately
sent a huge flame shooting from the grill and past his face. It was literally
a centimetre or two away from his face. The Gaffer stood over him and could
see the huge flame shoot across him. He was amazed he had not been injured.
He said ''I expected Jordan to turn around and have no eye-brows where the flame
went across the front of his face. On a serious note he was VERY fortunate to
not be badly hurt''.
This will come as a relief to the club as they prepare for their second cup
semi of the season. We have a fully fit squad to choose from and we hope it
stays that way.

The first session will be held at Goals (aka pro 5) on Tuesday and the usual indoor training at Southmead on Thursday, same time as usual. A flu bug has been hovering around the squad with the gaffer missing from Tuesday session and numerous players with coughs and colds.
Weather makes history...
With the heavy snow all around the UK, it was the weather that made history by postponing every local football match in the Saturday and Sunday league so Real will now have their 3 Lions cup game against Breakaways after the GFA Cup tie.
Gaffers delight on win over Redfield
The lads were terrific again today. Redfield are top of our league and whether people believe it or not the table doesnt lie and they have only lost 1 league game all season. To add to that they have only conceded 15 in 9 games so to put 4 past them is pleasing. And it could have bee more really. I feel after a slow start it was a well deserved victory and we had them on the back foot for large spells.
We need to make sure we dont slip back into giving silly goals away. We were very guilty of this earlier in the season but had put it right. The two goals we gave away are disappointing. If we do not switch of at crucial times and our midfield ensure they work back as quick as they work forward then these goals that we are giving away will be avoided and the clan sheets will begin to trot up.
That aside, it was a good performance by all from Lips in goal right through the team. We worked hard as a unit, got stuck in and tried to play football. The slick passing on what was a difficult surface at times was very encouraging and some of the goals were of a good standard indeed.
There is a belief in the squad at the moment and I think we are going places. The signing of Roobs looks a great one. He was fantastic today and has settled in really well with the rest of the lads. There were many other great performances with all 14 players involvd putting in fine displays. Long may that continue. We play Breakaways Sunday this weekend in the next round and I am sure that it is a game that we can go and win. They are in the league above us and although 1 from bottom should be respected. So should we though because we are a team in form and I do not fear anyone.
Well done to the lads for today. Well done
to the guys who came on/off also. They showed a good attitude.
Real edge Redfield to go into 2nd round of 3 Lions cup
A brace from top scorer Matt Steele helped knock out division 2 leaders Redfield Rangers 4-2 at DRG in the 3 Lions cup. Browner and Jason were also on the score sheet as Real continued their excellent form. Real will play division 1 outfit Breakaways on Sunday 8th Feb at the Imperial club.
Fitness boost for Real players
Real Bristol players were put through their paces as they had a extreme workout with Lee from TNT Gym Southmead.
The players went through 45 minutes of pure hell to gain on the fitness they lost over the xmas period.
After the workout, Lee commented on the the teams performance. Lee said: They are a great bunch of lads who gave me 100%. I have been here for 9 years, and I am absolutely positive I can get the players in the shape they want to be in".
After the work out there were some suprisingly positive notes from the players. 98% of the players said they would definately do it again every 3 weeks then look to do it fortnightly, where some said they would rather eat 6" nails.
Real play the waiting game.
With a last minute down pour over Saturday night, Reals 3 lions cup game was again called off with only 3 games going ahead.
DRG water logged for 3 Lions cup but the GFA Cup semi final draw is made.
The weather delayed another game for Real and now the 3 Lions cup game against Redfield will go ahead on 25th January.
However, the 2 other GFA Cup quarter final games took place yesterday and Real will face Post Office Sports of the Bristol and Wessex Senior division. Post Office Sports came out 4-1 winners against Carpenters Arms.
Meanwhile, Lebeq Tavern Courage Res booked their place in the semi's with another 4-1 win over AFC Redland. Lebeq will face Southmead Community Sports Sunday.
The semi final ties will commense on 15/02/2008.

Christmas party details..
With the Xmas party booked over 2 months ago, we all know that the Real Bristol FC Xmas party will be taking place on 20th December which is being held at our partner's function room at The Parkway.
Again, Real Bristol FC are putting their players first and will be charging £20 person. This £20 obviously includes a disco, food, and I am not talking about boring sandwiches and mini sausage rolls. The food on offer is lasagna, hot chicken and indian nibbles and a few more pieces. The price also includes drinks. Not 1 drink, not 2 drinks, but free drinks ALL night. Real Bristol FC are rewarding their players by putting enough money behind the bar to make this a one off special Xmas you will not want to miss. Now obviously when you have a xmas party, your partner is invited (if they are not, then something is wrong!!) and to make things more easier, children are also invited to the party.
Now we know some players are not attending because there is a pub crawl going on that night. That is fine as players will not be pressured into what they should do with their own time. Those attending the party are sure to have a night to reember. For only £20 for your whole night you will eat well, drink as much as you can and dance the night away. The choice is yours but Real Bristol FC are saying that ALL our players are welcome and we respect the decision you make, as long as you are making that decision and know one else.
On the night will be a raffle (minimum prize of £17) and more fun and games a chance to win £20 which of course will pay for your evening.
Dress code for the Xmas party is smart/smart casual and doors open at 19.30.
Whatever you decide to do with your evening we hope you have fun, wish you a merry xmas and a very prosperous new year!

Real will be kitted out the following week in the GFA Cup tie at Lloyd Utd and hopefully Real Bristol FC will be unveiling another Adidas garment for the players. The winner of this match will see them in to the quarter finals of the GFA Cup.

Budding delighted with cup win
We caught up with the gaffer to get his views on Real's memorable win against Bristol 5. Budding had this to say:
I am so pleased with each and every one of the lads. The performance they put in yesterday was absolutely fantastic. We showed a never say die attitude that if maintained will surely see us have a successful season. Many, and I mean MANY teams would have given up when 4-2 down with 10 men, especially after being 2-0 up. But the lads have shown fantastic character to come back and get the result. When you take into account the injuries we picked up also it really was a magnificent result.
The pitch got really bad and that was something that really played into their hands as they had the extra body out there but the players were everywhere. They wanted every ball and worked hard for one another. When you have some players showing strength individually it is good but when the team are strong as a unit it is wonderful.
Vis Unita Fortior! - United Strength Is Stronger!
There were some fantastic goals, some great
challenges and some top saves. Every one of the players did themselves, the
club, the fans and myself proud and we now look forward to playing Lloyd in
the next round. It is a game I am sure we can win but if we are to succeed then
we must not lose focus. It is one game and we cannot get carried away. We must
keep our feet on the ground and take each game as it comes. We get a chance
to see Lloyd in action as we have them in the league on Sunday. Lets show them
whats to come for them in the Cup!

Up For The Cup
This Sunday will see Real Bristol host Division One side Sportsman in the Gilbert Pullin Cup. We caught up with Real Manager Scott Budding to talk about his sides chances:-
I believe it is a game we can win for sure. They are a decent side and it will not be easy but we are improving with every game and I am sure a repeat of our performance on Sunday (especially the second half) will see us victorious. They are doing well in their division and we will need to be ready from the word go as they will fancy their chances against us but as long as we do not give silly goals away I believe we will have enough going forward to come out on top.
We will need to defend as a unit and defend
from the front. They are a team who will look to play the ball around and it
is up to us to press them. We need to close them down quickly and prevent them
from getting into any sort of flow. We will go out there and play our own game.
We will go out there and enjoy the game and all being well we will progress
to the next round. The league is our priority this year and I make no secret
of that but at the same time I have always enjoyed cup runs and beating a side
like Sportsman on Sunday can only be good for our confidence for when we return
to league duties against Lazz next week.

Managers Views
We caught up with new Real Bristol manager Scott Budding to get his views on the season so far on and off the pitch .
Q/ How do you feel you have settled into the role as manager of the club?
A/ I feel I have settled in very well. It was always going to be difficult coming in so close to the start of the season. I had no time to work with the players pre-season but I do feel things are already looking promising for the club.
Q/ One win and one defeat. Happy with the start?
A/ No, not really. You are only a winner if you think like one and I want to win every game. It was very disappointing to lose that first game but I would like to add that the performance in that game was pretty good. We certainly did enough to win the game but it was just one of those days. We responded well in the cup and we will kick on from here. We had a good training session last Sunday and the effort the lads put in was very pleasing.
Q/ Any more additions to the squad likely to happen?
A/ I said when I took over that the existing players will be given an opportunity. I havent said to anyone that I would like to release them from the squad and I dont plan to. Everyone has a chance to prove themselves. I have brought in a couple of players in areas we were short or needed improving and I have a couple of other players signing on who will add competition for places if I bring them in.
They may have to wait for their chance though as we have a big squad. Not including myself we had 13 at the last game and with Palmer and Macey to come back in that gives me 15. Having said this there can be no room for complacency and if changes need to be made to take the club forward then I will not hesitate to make them. But make no mistake, the current squad has the ability to succeed this season and if we continue to work together we can achieve great things. I will only make changes to the squad if necessary not for the sake of it.
Q/ Good news about the sponsorship yes!?!?!?!?
A/ Fantastic news. The deal that has been struck with The Parkway is terrific for the football club. We are in the process of ordering a brand new kit of the highest quality and a few other purchases which will soon be on view for all to see. Not only does it allow us to go out and buy these things but it makes the club financially stable which is very, very important. The Parkway has done a fantastic thing for us so I hope all the players show their appreciation and ensure they try to attend The Parkway after matches etc.
Q/ Any thoughts on the Pullin Cup draw?
A/ Well we have been handed a challenging game against Sportsman. I do not know too much about them personally but they are a division above us and are an established side in the 1st division so they are sure to provide a stern test. I am very pleased the game is at home though and with the home advantage I certainly feel we can, and will, progress to the next round.
Q/ And Sunday?
A/ Longwell Green Sunday. I have been told they are a good side. There will be no easy games this season in this division and we will have to work hard to get the result. They had an impressive result against Argonauts but did lose to an A1 Sports side missing some of there key players. Again we are at home so I will say 3pts for Real. I really want DRG to be a fortress this year. Would like to remain undefeated at home all season. Its important we defend well. I have always said If you dont concede then you cannot lose!. Its obvious I know but that is the truth. We can score goals. We will always score goals and if we do not give goals away at the other end then we have the winning combination we are looking for.
Sunday 5th October Real Bristol v Longwell Green Sunday. 10:30 am Kick-Off.
Real get home tie

Real net huge sponsor
Real Bristol FC have netted a 4 figure sponsor deal with The Parkway Tavern public house. The ongoing talks finally came to an end on Sunday night when the 2 partys struck a deal which will see Real Bristol comfortable for many years to come.

Scott added " We have been working non stop behind the scenes to land this sponsor and to get more than we planned is fantastic. I want to take this club to the highest standards and with the financial backing we have, I can work the players with enough training equipment to get us in the premier division, beating Lebeq and Scafftec."
Wayne said " Most of us are still buzzing from this news and we hope we can repay the Parkway with our performances on the pitch and hopefully our push up the leagues "

Scott spoke to the board and said " I am honoured to be part of this fantastic club and I truely believe I can take this club higher and give the chairman (Ben and Wayne) there wish of being up there with the Lebeq's and Scafftec's and challenging for the premier title.
When I was offered the job I knew I couldn't turn it down and with a few names under my hat, I am ready to bring fresh idea's into the club.
Wayne commented on Scott's arrival and said " This is absolutely fantastic for us to have a guy like Scott on board. We have been looking for a new manager for a few months now and we are very excited and condifent Scott can take us places".
Ben followed up " Scott was always in our thoughts for manager and with a change of circumstances at Scott's end, we knew we could land our man and we did. Already we have seen what Scott offer's and there is a new buzz around the changing room's and we have agreed that Scott has our backing on every decision he makes ".
